Any Day Now Lyrics

What's got into me
Can't believe yourself
Must be someone else
Must be someone else
Must be...

Any day now
How's about
Getting out of this place
Anyways, got a lotta spare time
Some of my youth
And all of my senses on overdrive

Any day now
How's about
Getting out of this place
Anyways, got a lotta spare time
Some of my youth
And all of my senses on overdrive

What's got into me
Can't believe yourself
lately

Any day now
How's about
Getting out of this place
Anyways, got a lotta spare time
Some of my youth
And all of my senses on overdrive

Don't play coltrane, you will sleep at the wheel
Eyes on horizon, don't sleep at the wheel

"some of my youth" (sadly less true now than when i wrote it) my mate john fell asleep driving to coltraine. a bizzarely fond memory. x

Thank you for clarifying! I've had a weekend of listening to Elbow, one of my very favourite bands since 2001. Well done to you guys for finally getting the recognition you deserve!

agreed. do you think he might possibly be saying "sober my youth" instead of "some of my youth?"

He could be, but I always heard it as 'some of my youth' as in having some of his youth left over to spend.

Amazing song, so atmospheric. I understand almost everything, except for the 'Don't play Coltrane' part. Any ideas?

Maybe he feels listening to john coltrane the jazz musician will relax so much that you'll fall asleep behind the wheel... that or it will bore you so much causing you to sleep at the wheel. I dunno.

@ripelivejam Nice. I'm not the only one.

coltrane used heroin. heroin could make you nod at the wheel. maybe coltrane reflected his drug use in his music?

Funny, I always heard "song of my youth"
