Eat The Meek Lyrics

[Chorus:]
why must we stay where we don't belong
Why must we stay where we don’t belong

Because there's never gonna be enough space
So eat the meek, enjoy the waste
It's always gonna be a delicacy
Lick your chops and eat the meek

[Chorus]

The factory mass produced fear, bottled,
Capped, distributed near and far
Sold for a reasonable price
And the people, they love it, they feed it
Brush with it, bathe with it, breathe it
Inject it direct to the blood
It seems to be replacing love

[Chorus]

Because there's always gonna be token truth
Forgotten code discarded youth
You know there's always gonna be pedigree
One own the air one pay to breathe

[Chorus]

you guys are all idiots. listen to the song, its about how the upper class thrives off the lower and middle classes. if it wasnt for the poor the rich would not be able to stay rich/get richer.

Yeah this is way obvious. I mean besides the obvious title of feeding off the weak, look at the other lyrics: "the factory mass producing fear" "There's always gonna be pedigree" -- pedigree means lineage, usually referring to a genealogy of royalty or excellence. In capitalism one of the main sources of inequality is inheritance -- the rich stay rich, the poor stay poor.

@gurskidos Indeed. The song's title is the inversion of "Eat the rich", which us the abbreviation of Jean-Jacques Rousseau's saying "When the people shall have nothing more to eat, they will eat the rich."

Rainydayboy, WTF is wrong with you. You think Punk is causing trouble for troubles sake? That has to be the most uneducated, back water thing I've ever heard. That is the kind of attitude that allows the status quo to remain. You aren't directing it at anything, you aren't changing anything. It's because of comments/attitudes/postures such as yours that the scenes whither and die due to ineffectual poser shits like you that think they know what "punk" is. What are you 16? WTF do you know what punk is.

how in the hell, is there anything in this song specifically about media manipulation or racism, perhaps coformity but even that is a stretch. yeah i think mickeal moore is definitely influencing you a little to omuch though! thats good though.

oh my god...there is no such thing as reading into a nofx song too much, they use double meanings and puns and shit all the time. it could very well be about that. the line the factory mass producing fear? in 3rd world countries they use the meek to fuel there big corparations because they can't stand up for themselves, meek as in politically oppressed.

rainydayboy, punk is not about just causing trouble for the hell of it, being a punk is about seeing through the smoke screen put up by society, and being who you want to be not who you are told to be.

I thought it was about unity, making a change, thinking for yourself, and conforming to a nonconformist subculture

on the topic of this song, however, ska is wonderful

Jedi .. I don't think the song has a 'sad undertone' the song is entirely depressing .. 'one own the air, one pay to breathe' .. a line about the ever mas production and ownership of everything that is used to survive .. a bit if an exaggeration but not that far in the future .. who knows .. The deline of modern earth and how everyone is accepting blindly
