Plenty Lyrics
I looked into your eyes
they told me plenty
I already knew
you never felt a thing
so soon forgotten all that you do
in more than words
I tried to tell you
the more I tried I failed
I would not let myself believe
that you might stray
and I would stand by you
no matter what they'd say,
I would have thought I'd be with you
Until my dying day
Until my dying day
I used to think my life
was often empty
a lonely space to fill
you hurt me more than
I ever would have imagined
you made my world stand still
and in that stillness
there was a freedom
I never felt before
I would not let myself believe
that you might stray
and I would stand by you
no matter what they'd say,
I would have thought I'd be with you
Until my dying day
Until my dying day.
they told me plenty
I already knew
you never felt a thing
so soon forgotten all that you do
in more than words
I tried to tell you
the more I tried I failed
I would not let myself believe
that you might stray
and I would stand by you
no matter what they'd say,
I would have thought I'd be with you
Until my dying day
was often empty
a lonely space to fill
you hurt me more than
I ever would have imagined
you made my world stand still
and in that stillness
there was a freedom
I never felt before
I would not let myself believe
that you might stray
and I would stand by you
no matter what they'd say,
I would have thought I'd be with you
Until my dying day.

this song is so sad. She is so hurt by this relationship...or whats left of something that was.
"I would have thought I'd be with you, Until my dying day."
I also just wanted to add that I heard a live version of this song, and it is even more 'haunting' live. It just stay's with you.
i seem to remember reading something about this song. I'm not completely sure though, but anyways. This is a song she wrote about someone who she dated, this person was somewhat urhm, shakey. Not really the best person, let's not say a loser, but definitely no catch. she made herself believe that she could help them, turn him round and really make this into something. She convinced herself that she loved him out of an urge to help him. It does kinda make sense "i would stand by you no matter what they'd say"
I love every song she does. Her voice is soothing and enchanting. Her writing is poetic. "you hurt me more than I ever would have imagined you made my world stand still and in that stillness there was a freedom I never felt before"

Thats when you hit rock bottom and think you lost it all. After you lose it all, You are free to do anything really. There is a freedom in being at your lowest.

One of my favorites. <3
She's sin
"I would not let myself believe That you might stray," to me, says that she was cheated on. She wouldn't have believed if someone told her that he was unfaithful ("And I would stand by you No matter what they'd say"). But she knew when she looked into his eyes ("I looked into your eyes/They told me plenty/I already knew"). It was devastating because she had plans to be together forever (... until my dying day).
