Them Belly Full (But We Hungry) Lyrics
Na-na na na-na na na na;
Na-na na na-na na na na;
Na-na na na-na na na na;
Na-na na na-na na na na.
Them belly full, but we hungry;
A hungry mob is a angry mob.
A rain a-fall, but the dutty tough;
A yot a-yook, but d' yood no 'nough.
You're gonna dance to Jah music, dance;
We're gonna dance to Jah music, dance, oh-ooh!
Forget your troubles and dance!
Forget your sorrows and dance!
Forget your sickness and dance!
Forget your weakness and dance!
Cost of livin' gets so high,
Rich and poor they start to cry:
Now the weak must get strong;
They say, "Oh, what a tribulation!"
Them belly full, but we hungry;
A hungry mob is a angry mob.
A rain a-fall, but the dutty tough;
A pot a-yook, but d' yood* no 'nough.
We're gonna chuck to Jah music - chuckin';
We're chuckin' to Jah music - we're chuckin'.
A belly full, but them hungry;
A hungry mob is a angry mob.
A rain a-fall, but the dutty tough;
A pot a-cook, but d' food* no 'nough.
A hungry man is a angry man;
A rain a-fall, but the dutty tough;
A pot a-yook, but you no 'nough'
A rain a-fall, but the dutty tough.
A pot a-cook, but you no 'nough;
A hungry mob is a angry mob;
A hungry mob is a angry mob. /fadeout/

i know that in alot of Rastafarian talk they mess around with words and stuff. i.e. downpressor man instead of opressor man because if you are opressed or opressing you are not lifting up, but bringing down; but what is the significance of "A yot a-yook, but d' yood no 'nough" when he later states "A pot a-cook, but you no 'nough" ?????
this is a song about social injustice. i love this song
Dude, he's really say the pot it cook, but the food not enough. It's just the guy who posted these lyrics decided to spell out Marley's accent, instead of just posting what his official lyrics say. The lyrics are on his website, if you don't believe my message,
SirSquiggly is correct, the lyrics posted are wrong.
Also, it's not "A rain a-fall, but the dutty tough" it's, "A rain a-fall, but the dirt it tough".
Who cares, its what its about that matters. And its very true these situations all around the world. There are people doing it incredibly tough, but he says that the love of God, (Jah) is with them, so they dance to Jah music; They have to find happiness somehow in God, but its never easy. 'A hungry mob is a angry mob.'
this song actually talks about the social injustice between michael manley the peoples nationalst party of jamaica and edward seaga who was head of the jamaica labour party.

Yeah, this song is about how the White men have full bellies but the Africans don't. Great song.
what does "chuckin" mean?
wow what a song, one of my favorites. when i first heard this song i wasnt really paying attention to the lyrics and i thought that it meant that people have all of this stuff (material possessions) but they still want more them belly full but WE hungry.

It is referencing a bible verse, Micah 6:14 "Thou shalt eat, but not be satisfied". The people are fed but they are spiritually hungry.
