my sight finally returns only to see my hands
covered with the innocent blood of those i stand before as an example
and i hold this ember in my heart
it reminds me of who I was once.
ember of Your faithfulness
ember of Your still small voice
ember of embracing arms
ember of rebirth
to You my King i offer up this ember for the wind of Your Spirit to consume
consumed by fire to purge their blood from my hands
covered with the innocent blood of those i stand before as an example
and i hold this ember in my heart
it reminds me of who I was once.
ember of Your faithfulness
ember of Your still small voice
ember of embracing arms
ember of rebirth
to You my King i offer up this ember for the wind of Your Spirit to consume
consumed by fire to purge their blood from my hands

i think he was talking to god and asking him to forgive him for his sins. he wanted to be who he once was and was unhappy with the way he currently was.
i think thats exatly right, thanks dude i was wondering about this song even though its pretty obvious im just not a deep thinker. but i love the part at the end when he says "consumed by fire, consumed, by fire to (and then he stops screaming but says) purge (with the guitar in the backround) their blood (starts screaming in the backroudn)from my hands. that part is the best.
yeah
This song totally makes me think of myslef at times... So many times God and His Word is refered to as a fire burning in our hearts. And I think of this song and it sounds as if it is talking about someone who has been a Christian for a while and starts to fall away. They used to have a fire burning in them, but slowly it died down into an ember. So this person is lifting this ember up to the Lord and asking Him to blow His Spirit upon it and make it into an awesome fire again. So it is like him coming to the Lord for guidance again and reinviting the Lord into his life... that is just how I think of it as... God bless!
This song is a prayer to God for mercy and absolution for our personal acts of murder that we can never forget. We've all done things that are so painful that they torment our memories and recollections. We can never change it or even ever atone for it. Forgiveness and restoration are His ways though believing that we are worthy is the challenge.
