Tat Twam Asi Lyrics
Tat twam asi [x3]
Lost in a wilderness
I will build a fire
I become a fire
To swim in the water
Burrowing and bellowing
Into a consciousness
Kicking against
Yet we're needing to want this
Sucking and bleeding
Now knee deep in substance
Pulling and dragging
Fail to allow ourselves
As we move to consciousness
As we move through consciousness
As we move to consciousness
Driven by our need for transcendence
Tat twan asi [x3]
Focus on the focus-less
Focus-less is the focus
Look into the Self
One name branded deep
Burning and singeing
The markings of the soul
Turning more turning
We assimilate ourselves
Needing the push
A sea of flailing limbs
Push to create
An equilibrium
As we move to consciousness
As we move through consciousness
As we move to consciousness
Driven by our need for transcendence
I will build a fire
I become a fire
To swim in the water
Into a consciousness
Kicking against
Yet we're needing to want this
Sucking and bleeding
Now knee deep in substance
Pulling and dragging
Fail to allow ourselves
As we move through consciousness
As we move to consciousness
Driven by our need for transcendence
Focus-less is the focus
Look into the Self
One name branded deep
The markings of the soul
Turning more turning
We assimilate ourselves
Needing the push
A sea of flailing limbs
Push to create
An equilibrium
As we move through consciousness
As we move to consciousness
Driven by our need for transcendence

Great song...it's funny how earthtone9 don't get any credit for their awesome music.
Damn its empty here, weird though, cause this is an amazing song. This is a total other thing then nu-metal or any kind of metal. I call it progressive metal. I just adored this song so I bought arc'tan'gant and it rocks. I think its just that no-one has ever heard of this band, cause if they did they would explore en adore, especially fans of tool, apc, deftones and korn.
yeah im a major tool and APC listener.. earthtone 9 have split up now... but there singer is in another new band with i think the guitarist from pitchshifter... they are called the blue print... they havent released anything yet but i think there are a few mp3 demo's on there site...( http://www.the-blueprint.net ) tat twam asi is my favourite earthtone 9 song... because the lyrics are similiar to tool's very thought provoking... and musically good... ive met the band and seen them live a few things and there singer karl is a personal friend of mine... i suggest you download this song off there site if you havent heard it yet http://www.earthtone9.com

sad they they're split up
the whole british music scene is sad, earthtone9, Pitchshifter, and to some extent vacant stare, all split up, they were all tipped for the top but they just couldn't compeat with funking yanks, with all their homies and bitches and "bling bling" it's a pile of corprate wank.
The Blueprint have released an ep since xhard-corex lasted posted, it's called "zerozeroone" and is out on copro, the second will be out in a couple of months. the fists one was amazing and if you like et9, psi or at the drive in give em a listen, also check out my fan site http://theblueprinttheband.tripod.com and i swear it will be rebuilt soon.
Could the title, and the whole song for that matter, be based on the Sanskirt phrase "Tat Tvam Asi'? This can be translated a few ways, but the common one seems to be "That art thou".
The meaning is that the Self (you, your spirit, your body, your mind etc.) are the same or identical to all existence (that is your reason for being).
The song lyrics seem to suggest that perhaps this is a philosophical view of life, death and the Self.
Furthermore I'd suggest that the song is questioning do we need "religion" (at least in the terms of Christianity). Perhaps the phrase "that art thou" is enough in life, and that do we really need anymore? And if we need more, then why?
