Army's On Ecstasy Lyrics

The army's on ecstasy
So they say
I read all about it
In USA Today
They stepped up urine testing
To make it go away
Cause it's hard to kill the enemy
On ol' MDMA

Said the King of Contradiction
To the Queen of Mystery
The Prince of Paradox, he dogs me like a flea
So I'll set my troops upon him
And bring him to his knees
When all is said and done
I'll pick a flight with the Chinese
The Queen she stared him long and hard
And then she softly said
I'll rub you down with linseed oil to ease your throbbing head
She slipped a note into an apricot
Then threw it to the whores
The jester read the words
Something wicked this way roars

The army's on ecstasy
So they say
I read all about it
In USA Today
They stepped up urine testing
To make it go away
Cause it's hard to kill the enemy
On ol' MDMA

The price they put upon the heads
Of folks with poignant views
Would be better spent on
The children without shoes
And when the King condoned
The actions of the liar
He forgot to weight the awesome power
Of the village crier

The army's on ecstasy
So they say
I read all about it
In USA Today
They stepped up urine testing
To make it go away
Cause it's hard to kill the enemy
On ol' MDMA

The original USA today article is at http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2001-04-15-militaryecstasy.htm

I think Les Claypool is playing with the irony of soldiers taking ecstasy seeming more shocking than killing people.

ecstasy was originally a military weapon. the u.s. figured if we spray the enemy with this drug then they would be happy and lose their will to fight. look it up

and the song is moastly a refrance to the goverments testing the hulcino gen on ground troops during WWII(which was performed by mostly the british) the US didn't try it out til around the Korean wars, and astly expanded on the expieraments in 'Nam.

ANd also during the British tests it was given to the troops in water based drinks before training. During Vietnam however saratingo the US administrated the drugs secretly, directly in to the soldiers in a number of ways. Theres a great film about it called Jacob's Ladder, really good! But yeah, we did try spraying it but that test lasted for barley a year; the chemicals dicapated in the air far to quickly for the enemy to even enhale.
