As far as I can tell, this song is about struggling with doubt about Jesus. Every Christian has done it, and doubt is not labeled in the Bible as sin. Even Jesus doubted, because he was fully human as well as fully God. He was, however, sinless. Doubt doesn't become sin until it's acted upon. Anyway, that's my two cents on the song.

Rachel Bolan Interview on May 24, 2011. The question asked was "Is Quicksand Jesus about religious tension or bouts with faith?"
Bolan answered: You pretty much hit the nail on the head. I grew up in a Catholic family and so did Snake. You know that good old fashioned Catholic guilt. It’s just about keeping your beliefs during good times and bad times. It’s so easy to not be spiritual when things are going really good and then when they go bad you start relying on whatever god you pray to to get you out of it. It’s kind of saying that whatever it is you believe in, you should probably put in 100% all the time. We started writing it and war broke out in the middle east. The lyrics just started pouring out but we did not have a title for it. Snake and I used to do a lot of dirt bike riding and we knew we wanted “Jesus” in the title but we could never really settle on anything. There was a busted Jesus in Snakes mom’s flower garden. The garden was there right before we took off to go riding on the trail and every time it rained the Jesus sank. We called it “Quicksand Jesus” and what we would do is touch it for luck and then we would take off. If someone would wreck we’d say, “You forgot to touch Quicksand Jesus didn’t you?” One day, we just looked at each other and said, “That’s it! That’s the song title!” That song was a labor of love. Snake and I never had such a tug of war on certain parts and elements of songs as much as we did with that one. That one took us a long time to write. It’s cool that’s your favorite song because that’s my favorite Skid Row song that we ever did. I’m proud of it and I’m so glad we still do that one.

The phrase "Quicksand Jesus" is the "Jesus" that people turn to as a last resort when they are already in a deep trouble instead of calling Jesus as their first priority. This always happen to the rich people who have a lot of money to pay good doctors to heal their sickness. But when the doctor says that there's already no hope then they will call Jesus to either blame Jesus for the sickness or ask forgiveness when they are already dying.
The song Quicksand Jesus is such a very deep beautiful song by Skid Row. It features the superb singing prowess of Sebastian "Baz" Bach. The song obviously have a religious meaning and quite hard to explain. Actually the entire song is quite is easy to understand, what took me sometime to comprehend is the phrase "Quicksand Jesus".
To even complicate the meaning of the song, Skid Row made a music video for this song which explains the verses of the song but not the phrase "Quicksand Jesus"
n the video, there was a child who had a seed on her hand and planted it. The girl also found a rosary. The seed grew as a strong and beautiful tree, and the child grew and turns out to be an old grand mother.
As the video near its ending, the grand mother handed over the rosary to a girl(presumably her grand daughter) beside the tree.
In my interpretation, the video completely explains the verses of the song. It's about handing down faith to the next generation. It's about sticking to the true religion that was your parent or grand parents have taught to you. The rosary in the video represents the faith. Not necessary the faith as Roman Catholic but the faith to a true religion and faith to God.

However, once I added a comma, it all came into focus for me. So, the phrase is "Quicksand, Jesus!" I take it to mean the author is stuck and sinking in quicksand, and crying out to Jesus for help.

I love this song......For me it is not about religion....but something more...I don`t know how to explain that. But I know that it gave me power to go on

he's using quicksand as a metaphore to say that people are slowly sinking away from Jesus, just kinda one of those songs in saying how fucked the world is
