She was a ballerina on a subway train
Stiletto heels and a candy cane
Looked like a number on a station wall
Hot on the tail of a social call
I wet my lips I thought I had it made
Like Valentino with a hand grenade
I made my move with my libido on
She circled once and then she dropped the bomb
She got the big guns
Pointed at my heart
Bang bang shooting like a firing squad
Big guns
Blew me away
And I went down in flames
Stiletto heels and a candy cane
Looked like a number on a station wall
Hot on the tail of a social call
Like Valentino with a hand grenade
I made my move with my libido on
She circled once and then she dropped the bomb
Pointed at my heart
Bang bang shooting like a firing squad
Big guns
Blew me away
And I went down in flames

i think what they mean by "big guns" is her chest. think about it.
Indeed the song talks about a woman with big breasts :P Actually i ve seen a video of skid row playing "big guns" live where baz turns at the crowd and points at his chest
I don't think "big guns" has to be literal. I think it's more of a metaphor of how this woman just blows him away. Anyway, this is missing tons of lyrics:
"I met a sidewalk preacher on a roller skate He said he had the key to heavens gate I said: I'll wait for the movie 'cause I been there before And learned: like is a battle and love is war"
"I'm doing time as a back seat romeo Play solitaire with my hands in the air Another night and no bullets to spare"
I'm surprised no one's pointed that out.
I read somewhere that 'big guns' refered to big breasts, so, I guess Acetica was right. It's a nice methaphore:)
Anyway, I like the line: 'like is a battle and love is war' So damn true!
Talk about an overlooked song, this is probably Skid Row's best and you never hear anything about it.
Ok so the lyrics are really ridiculous, but it still kicks ass.
Pretty self explained if you think about. Big breasts are probably what they mean, and I just love the creative lyrics on this song also.
This is good stuff, and lots of at least semi subtle innuendo. Baz paints a pretty full picture of this woman, even down to her red hair. And her carpet matches her drapes. How else do you go down in flames?
And she does him pretty good. She blew him, away, and he's out of ammo at the end of the day.
Everyone likes a happy ending right?
The title is a play on words. "Big guns" is supposed to be interpreted as "big 'uns" (large breasts).
This song is fantastic for the genre of 80s hard rock. When every song has the protagonist as being this unbeatable ladies man, it's unique to have one where his charms have their limits. We see this again in Piece of Me where the lyrics say "I don't have looks, I don't have money". The narrative voice of Skid Row is at one with its narrative setting; "another misfit kid, another burned out town". I think the bravado and triumph of Skid Row is more meaningful because it's balanced against hard luck and a society where the deck is stacked against you. It makes their music not only more relatable to the average person, but unique in the landscape of macho, wish fulfillment fantasy that is the hard rock of the period.
im pretty sure they where talking about funbags
