American Nightmare Lyrics
Hot cherry on Friday night
When the sun goes down my spine
I put an axe in my baby's head
I'm gonna end up doing time
She looks so good in red
American nightmare running scared
She shoulda been hard to get
She shoulda been hard to kill
She shoulda been hard to kill, hey
I had to split your head
American nightmare running scared
I'm heading down the highway
Sign has three inverted nines
If the lord don't get me the devil will
But not without a fight
This highway never fucking ends
American nightmare running scared
American nightmare running scared
I'm heading down the highway
Sign has three inverted nines
If the lord don't get me the devil will
But not without a fight
This highway never fucking ends
American nightmare running scared
Hey, American nightmare running scared
When the sun goes down my spine
I put an axe in my baby's head
I'm gonna end up doing time
American nightmare running scared
She shoulda been hard to kill
She shoulda been hard to kill, hey
American nightmare running scared
Sign has three inverted nines
If the lord don't get me the devil will
But not without a fight
American nightmare running scared
American nightmare running scared
Sign has three inverted nines
If the lord don't get me the devil will
But not without a fight
American nightmare running scared
Hey, American nightmare running scared

by far the best "elvis" song
This song could have been based on the 1980 movie of the same name. Some people believe that this song was written for The Cramps; in fact, there was no Misfits song originally written for The Cramps. This song was recorded in one take by Danzig, Only, and Googy, with Jerry nodding his head to cue Googy when to hit the drums. The hand clapping was added later.
First off, it's "HOT CHEVY ON A FRIDAY NIGHT." The recording isnt great, and Danzig being from Jersey isn't the easiest to understand sometimes, but it fits the song theme. I also asked him when he played in Springfield, MO. what the correct lyric was. I felt like an idiot asking, but he confirmed it's Chevy not cherry.
Wow what a great song.... The Misfits kick ass. Danzig is a genious
poison pale always right on the mark, nice the clap makes the song haha
the best misfits song ever, to me, and itll be stuck in my head forever thanks Glenn! haha wouldnt you love to just sit with him and just ask him what was going through his mind the whole time he wrote songs for the misfits. haha
the best mifits song besides in the doorway and hybrid moments.
it is a crazyily good misfits song. it just works so well.
It's obvious that this song is about a murder. I personally can see it has being about this guy who has an obsession with a specific girl and he lusts after her so, but she is a virgin and turns him down. He gets ticked off because he wants to sex it up with her and she won't give him the time of day so he kills her. I think the song is him reflecting on his actions as he's driving down the highway on his way out of town and he's thinking how bloody easy it was to off her. I first heard this song about two years ago in my English class. Our final was to pick a song, write down on a piece of paper all the poetic devices in it and then play a part of the song for the class. I will always remember Sam Rither playing this song and thinking how horrible it was that somebody would go kill some chick. I don't think the same way any more. I don't think it's a terrible song.
