Wishing Well Lyrics
it cursed us all
on our way home
we pass the sights
like passing stones
and i will never go back there again
the tourists and the army men
the prostitutes this evening
who start to sink under my skin
the dust and sand is what they sell
the flashing lights and ringing bells
our wish as far as i can tell
inside this dried up wishing well
he is the shrieks
i am the fear, ooohhh
that yelling man
rings in my ears
out of his mind
he's my conscience
hour after hour
pill after pill
he is my belly ache
i've taken so much medicine to kill...
i know there's something wrong
cause this night just drags on and on
the clock still says it won't be long
til all your hard earned money's gone
the dust and sand is what they sell
the flashing lights and ringing bells
our wish as far as i can tell
inside this dried up wishing well
and i will never go back there again
the tourists and the army men
the prostitutes this evening
who start to sink under my skin
the dust and sand is what they sell
the flashing lights and ringing bells
our wish as far as i can tell
inside this dried up wishing well
on our way home
we pass the sights
like passing stones
the tourists and the army men
the prostitutes this evening
who start to sink under my skin
the flashing lights and ringing bells
our wish as far as i can tell
inside this dried up wishing well
i am the fear, ooohhh
rings in my ears
he's my conscience
pill after pill
he is my belly ache
i've taken so much medicine to kill...
cause this night just drags on and on
the clock still says it won't be long
til all your hard earned money's gone
the flashing lights and ringing bells
our wish as far as i can tell
inside this dried up wishing well
the tourists and the army men
the prostitutes this evening
who start to sink under my skin
the flashing lights and ringing bells

I think that this song is about a place like Las Vegas or some flashy place like that where people go thinking that they can have all these amazing things but they never get anywhere, people just get stuck in there. And how one person lost everything and is making a promise to himself to never go back there again
I dont know the meaning of this song or whatever but I love it! Its one of my favorite Phantom Planet songs. c ya
It's almost eerie.. it's fabulous.. Everyone who knows this song has a different meaning for it.
and i will never go back there again the tourists and the army men the prostitutes {this evening}** who start to sink under my skin
**"yes, even them" is what i hear....what about you?
i love this song too!
I love this song. It's so different and it sounds like it would be something you would hear on Broadway. Maybe it's about Las Vegas. There seems to be so many references in this song about Vegas.
the clock still says it won't be long till all your hard earned money's gone
And then there is the prostitute reference. Prostitutes are legal in Vegas.Tourist references...and it just sounds like Las Vegas. The trumpet in there...I don't know.
this song is just so amazing. alex has some of the strongest vocals i have ever heard. he is more talented than some of the artists 2 times his age. i too think this song is in reference to las vegas. vegas is like a "wishing well" because people go there and they stand at the tables and slot machines just wishing and raying that they'll hit it big. the song's title is a great metaphor. phantom planet rules.
i love alex greenwalds voice he is so sexy. this song makes me wanna fuck someone
I love how Alex's voice goes at the end of the song when he's screaming "wishing well"...I love to turn it up on that part then my mother comes in and gives me a weird look, lol.
I loveee this song. And Alex Greenwald has one of the best voices rock has ever heard, if you ask me. It's awesome.
References to Dust and Sand might also be references to the "Golddust" and former "Sands" casinos.
