Hybrid Moments Lyrics
If you're gonna scream, scream with me
Moments like this never last
When do creatures rape your face
Hybrids opened up the door
Ooh baby when you cry
Your face is momentary
You hide your looks behind these scars
In hybrid moments
Give me a moment
Give me a moment
Give me a moment
Ooh baby when you cry
Your face is momentary
You hide your looks behind these scars
In hybrid moments
In hybrid moments
In hybrid moments
In hybrid moments
Give me a moment
Give me a moment
Moments like this never last
When do creatures rape your face
Hybrids opened up the door
Your face is momentary
You hide your looks behind these scars
Give me a moment
Give me a moment
Your face is momentary
You hide your looks behind these scars
In hybrid moments
In hybrid moments
Give me a moment

Good god, you guys are putting WAY to much into this. It's the Misfits, old horror movies...90% of the time at least. Also I interviewed Samhain for my Fanzine when I was like 15 (1984). I remember the year because the worlds fair was going on here. I recall Danzig saying he wrote this after seeing the first Alien film..so I saw one maybe 2 people who had it correct, early on. The face raping, and hybrid opening the door are directly from the film.

@YaBoyRob I want to believe this but the song was recorded in 1978 while Alien was not released until 1979. So the song existed before the movie, unless I'm missing something?

The final script for the movie "Alien" was released in 1978. the album "Static Age" was recorded in 1978 (though it was not released in its entirety until 1997.) Can you think of another story with creatures that "rape your face?" And the Alien is, without question, a hybrid of the two species from which it came.
This song, regardless of its initial inspiration of Alien, is about rough sex, or at the very least, the mixture of pain and pleasure of a relationship. The idea is that these moments which are a mix of good and bad are more real and authentic than other banal moments. Screaming, crying...these things are "momentary", transient, but we still want these moments to reach an authentic intimacy with someone.
ok u guys are right, good song but were talking bout the songs MEANINGS
i think its about hiding behind your experiences
example "oh i had a crappy childhood, i cant be expected to be successful" and all that shit we all hate
I agree with others who have said its about a killer. I think that he's a sociopath, so in general, he's incapable of empathizing with other people's emotions. But when he is kidnapping and killing his victims, they have emotions that he can relate to: fear, anger, disgust... so in the moment of killing them, he actually feels closer to humanity. He has a "hybrid moment" - he feels part monster, but also part human. And he is so moved by this connection he starts to get choked up.
This is the feel good misfits tune, the one that just about everyone can croon along with. That and the fact that my buddies' band covered it made me love it even more. Warning, if you ever try and download this tune, make sure you do not get stuck with the version with graves on vocals, he's good, but he's not meant for this song. Go Danzig!
i've tried analyzing this song but i can never get anything out of it. i sing it hard and loud with my friends but i never know what i'm singing about. granted it could very well be what gabbagabba said, but how does that explain the entire first [and only] verse? and what exactly is a 'hybrid moment,' and why is danzig asking for a moment? i just.. don't get it. but christ, i love this song.
@jacob Danzig is singing from the perspective of a xenomorph face hugger from the 1978 film "Alien". the tag line for the film was in space no one can hear you scream. and the song starts of if "if you're gonna scream, scream with me" referencing the tagline as well as setting up the moment of attachment from the face hugger. think of the pod opening up in a mutual scream along with the face hugger itself opening up to embrace your face, sexually hence "when do creatures rape your face hybrids open up the door" xenomorphs are hybrids and...

But for a moment the face and the face hugger are a hybrid creature, with the face hugger serving as the lungs for both while attached. hence a hybrid moment. the face-hugger is pleading for its fulfillment, its genetic and life purpose, to have a hybrid moment that while it won't last, with a "lover/victim" oddly enough this face-hugger seems to want his viticm's consent as he is asking for that moment.
One of my friends had a pretty good sugestion about what this song is all about... f ucking! :P
