The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get Lyrics
The more you ignore me
The closer I get
You're wasting your time
The more you ignore me
The closer I get
You're wasting your time
I will be
In the bar
With my head
On the bar
I am now
A central part
Of your mind's landscape
Whether you care
Or do not
Yeah, I've made up your mind
The more you ignore me
The closer I get
You're wasting your time
The more you ignore me
The closer I get
You're wasting your time
Beware !
I bear more grudges
Than lonely high court judges
When you sleep
I will creep
Into your thoughts
Like a bad debt
That you can't pay
Take the easy way
And give in
Yeah, and let me in
Oh, let me in
Oh let me ...
Oh, let me in
IT'S WAR
IT'S WAR
IT'S WAR
IT'S WAR
IT'S WAR

I saw a documentary filmed before Morrissey released "you are the quarry" (and while he was without any record deal) in which he gave his first interview in years. The narrator says that the song is about Morrissey's feelings towards Mike Joyce in light of legal action taken by Joyce for payments after he left the band. This cuts to Morrissey saying; "I wish Mike Joyce all the worst in life." He resents him for seeking lost earnings that (in Morrissey's opinion) Joyce knew he did not deserve. Morrissey, assuming a moral highground, is telling Joyce that while the lonely high court judges may have ruled in his favour regarding financial debts, Joyce will always harbour a debt of guilt that can never be repaid. If the documentary makers' interpretation was accurate --- and not just editing in an unrelated Morrissey quote about Joyce in a spurious attempt to bolster their own opinions on the intended meaning of the song --- then I suppose Morrissey is making clear the eternal grudge he will bear and wants to haunt Joyce with the thought that if he tries to ignore his feelings of guilt, they will only play on his mind even more.
riiiiiiiight i have absolutely no idea what that person has just said

I dont know what tada123 is on.
Great song - such a sexy title. For me, this song is about knowing someone likes you, and you tease and tease and tease them until they give in and TAKE YOU! So sexy.
"Beware ! I bear more grudges Than lonely high court judges "
Brilliant. Amazing. Patriotic.
Sublime. One of the catchiest Morrissey/Smiths songs.
Definitely a reference to Joyce.
"When you sleep,I will creep, into your thought's like a bad debt that you can't pay. Take the easy way and give in............"
Pure genius.
Hope Joycey enjoyed the million quid. He will pay for it, for the rest of his life :-}
I love this song, especially the guitar. For some reason that riff reminds me of oasis.
i think the song talks about astral projection, being able to project himself in another person's dream:
"I am now A central part Of your mind's landscape Whether you care Or do not"
and "When you sleep I will creep Into your thoughts"
on another note, this song is for stalkers. the ultimate stalker song
You are so crazy sometimes. He'd probably project your arse if he read all the crap you write:)
