Will Never Marry Lyrics

I'm writing this to say
In a gentle way
Thank You - but no
I will live my life as I
Will undoubtedly die - alone

I'm writing this to say
In a gentle way
Thank You ...
I will live my life as I ... oh
For whether you stay
Or stray
An inbuilt guilt catches up with you

And as it comes around to your place
At 5 A.M.; wakes you up
And it laughs in your face

Don't Speak !

I think the first verse is Moz rejecting the proposal, explaining that marriage just isn't for him. The second verse is the person Moz rejected explaining that they will move on and continue to live their life, whether or not Morrissey is in it and that Morrissey will undoubtedly feel some sort of guilt or remorse. Kind of saying in a way "Your loss".

Honestly, I think this song is exactly what the lyrics are saying. Morrissey is jsut simply stating, very beautifully, that he has choosen not to marry. (hence the title) I am pretty sure it doesn't go any deeper than that, but then again it is Mozz XD

god dammit, is this song ever amazing. every time i try and fail with some sort of a relationship with the opposite sex i always look at the first verse of this song. it's so flawless and perfectly describes how i (and morrissey) feel, destined to die alone because there's no one out there who will ever complete us. this is why i love morrissey so much.

the title may also be a kind of pun on

"You're going to wed me, Will" which is a line from Hobson's Choice

read the line in context here: http://schulers.com/books/ha/h/Hobson_s_Choice/Hobson_s_Choice5.htm

morrissey also mentioned the film in this list: http://www.morrissey-solo.com/content/interview/nme0983.html

i think this song is about the futility of relationships. morrissey believes that if there is no such thing as true love why be with anyone

In the biography 'Landscapes of the Mind' there is a clip of a Morrissey interview in which he is talking about celibacy and he qoutes the definition of celebicy (paraphrase): "If you look up celibacy, it has nothing to do with sex, it actually has to do with marriage. The definition is 'will never marry.'

Possibly the singer is a gay man talking to a straight woman who loves him.

Hey jimn, want to explain how being a gay man 'undoubtedly' means you'll die alone? Oh wait, you can't. Love some of the ways people interpret Morrissey songs. Everytime you hear about a bisexual person, everyone focuses on the gay part.

The way he sings the first verse then the song goes into the strings is beautiful. This song uses the same sonic method as Everyday Is Like Sunday but is even more heartbreaking. I find it particularly sad that Morrissey is writing a letter in the scenario of the song, as if there's too much pain for him to express face to face.
