Message in a Bottle (The Police cover) Lyrics

Just a castaway
An island lost at sea
Another lonely day
With no one here but me
More loneliness
Than any man could bear
Rescue me before I fall into despair

I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle
[Message in a bottle]

A year has passed since I wrote my note
But I should have known this right from the start
Only hope can keep me together
Love can mend your life
But love can break your heart

I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle
[Message in a bottle
Oh, message in a bottle
Message in a bottle]

Walked out this morning
Don't believe what I saw
A hundred billion bottles
Washed up on the shore
Seems I'm not alone at being alone
A hundred billion casatways
Looking for a home

I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle
[Message in a bottle
Message in a bottle
Message in a bottle]

Sending out an SOS...

Erm...

Not quite as good as the original.. a good attempt though... not MH's best work

I guess it's pretty simple, just about feeling lonely when love is not returned and having the feeling that the scream for help you throw to the world is only lost within all the other screams....

Nonetheless, it's a really good song...

I personally love this song, the way Flynn sings it makes it all the better. Say what you will about this version, I like this more than the original. It's too upbeat for a depressing song. This song captures the mood perfectly

As if! Its a fucking awesome cover of the original.

The exclusion of the third verse turns what really is a fairly optimistic song (when the "author" of the song realizes he isn't alone, there are millions of other lonely people out there) into something totally different and more depressing. Why cut the third verse? Was Machine Head angling for something darker? I don't know, but not a very successful cover in my opinion.
