Sparks Are Gonna Fly Lyrics

Recent years were unsung
I light 'em up
Burning my horoscope
Recent fears I've undone
I give 'em up
Sick of my bogus ghost
Rising up it reached my highest line
Come on, Daisy
Don't drown me this time

I'm living in fits
Can't get myself ripped
Don't make me no criminal
I'm easily moved
It don't leave me no room
Don't make me no criminal
Rising up, it reached my lowest line
I had bad ideas and ballast on my mind

Now the sparks are gonna fly
'Cause I'm turned on again
Burning up the future
I'm taking off
I'm taking off

Recent fears about love
I string 'em up
These are my robust ropes
There'll be no more tears
I'm unplugged
Let's live it up
Easy come, easy go
Falling down gave me my highest line
So come on, Daisy
Don't drown me this time

Now the sparks are gonna fly
'Cause I'm turned on again
Burning up the future
I'm taking off
I'm taking off

Falling down I reached my highest line
I've got a good idea what breaks you makes you shine

Now the sparks are gonna fly
'Cause I'm turned on again
Burning up the future

Now the sparks are gonna fly
'Cause I'm turned on again
Turning on the boosters

Now the sparks are gonna fly
'Cause I'm turned on again
Burning up the future

I'm taking off
I'm taking off
So come on, Daisy
Don't drown me this time

Clearly a reference to The Great Gatsby. I think this song is about loving someone very much and he shouldn't but he does anyways.

to me, it's about putting all of the past(his fears and paranoia and baggage) behind himself, and looking forward to the future. if he's going to go down, he's going to go down in flames, not lamenting over the past while the future passes him by. he's also realizing that all the shit in his past has made him better off in some ways, so he's not going to spend time regretting things. and the chorus is basically saying he's lighting his own fuse and letting himself shoot into the future, regardless of whether he crashes into a wall or explodes whatever. he's opening himself up wide for whatever will happen!
Edited by delial on May 28 2008, at 06:41AM
