Violate Lyrics

I want you to know this
I want you to know just what I feel
You told me through sacred lies
I told you once with bloodshot eyes
You told me don't ask
Just stay away from me

You told me it'd be alright
I told you once, then told you twice
You can't face
Can't you face me

Chorus:
I won't pray for you
I can't pray for you
Because you took it away
Because you took it from me

First verse
Chorus

Thought I could never ever fuckin'
find another
Get a muthafuckin' chance again
Because the power
is the rage that can devour
Gotta make that fear descend

Without it, you ain't shit
And you ain't shit to me
Berating, a scathing
Grave indignity

I see the look
inside your eyes
It makes me sick
Defiling innocence
Is how you get
your kicks
You violate, and
then you think

yourself a man
You violate, and
then you call
yourself a man

Don't come my
way
Don't care what
you say
Pray you fuckin'
die
Before you feel

Rage...

This track is about abuse and betrayal, feeling violated when someone takes advantage of you. You take that feeling of resentment, rage, and anger, and make them feel what you feel. You won't pray for them, try and distance yourself from them, and warn them to try not to get close, or they'll feel what they made you feel.

Wow...here the song really gets thrown right into 6th gear. So much energy. I love it!

I know that Robb has talked previously about abuse he suffered growing up (and has sung about this in songs). I think this song could be to that offender ... sort of his song of showing he is stronger now! And that he is ready to explode with rage upon them if their paths shall cross again!

OR ... another thought could be that this is about God. A conversation with God if you will. Pretty much the narrator is pissed off that God didn't help them in their times of need ("You told me don't ask, just stay away from me"). This is their message that they no longer need God, they are stronger now having overcome themselves and don't need the thought of a God to help them anymore. Some religious people may argue that perhaps God does this to test us, and help us grow ... but the end of this song suggests that the narrator feels that they have "outgrown" God and they better not cross their path.
