Take My Scars Lyrics

It's been around for a thousand years
And it'll be here for plenty more
It is the face hidden in disgrace
That has become now an open sore

It is a false messiah
It is the face of pain
The bringer of the bittersweet
The heretic insane

Take my scars
Through hands of God
I found a better way
To break the walls

Fed all the lies and desensitized
Taught to believe that it is the way
Taught to divide and exactly why
You'll never understand my rage

You've never had to borrow
You've never had to steal
You eat it with your silver spoon
For me it's real

Take my scars
Through hands of God
I found a better way
To break the walls

Lead: Robb

Blood and concrete
Piss and wine
Whores that fuck
To feel divine

They'll clean their needles
In their shrine
In ignorance
It's bliss you find

Why can't you
fuckin' open
Open up your eyes

One of their best songs hands down. Robb didn't have it easy growing up pretty straight forward.

One of the best songs I can relate to.

yeh nice guys, it is a great song. But you're kinda supposed to talk about the meaning here?

I guess it's just about how, yeh, Rob had a tough up-bringing and he's asking ppl who had it easier than he did (those that ate with 'silver spoon', those that 'fuk to feel divine', etc.) to "take his scars" by comforting him, sort of in a religious manner. But then he tells them he's actually found a better way to deal with his shxt ('To break the walls') i.e. his music, etc. than to talk with these ppl, who actually, if u look closely, aren't that cool - U GOTTA OPEN UP YA EYES!!

My Interpretation

Basically, this song calls attention to the hidden face of disgrace in society, our struggle to break free from its influence, and the frustration towards those who remain blinded by ignorance. The scars it refers to in the phrase "take my scars" represent the wounds inflicted by the faces of pain, and the desire for a higher power to offer you liberation and break down the barriers of life. It criticizes the indoctrination of lies and the desensitization of individuals who lead to the division within society. It's a plea for some higher power to take away the pain inflicted by those who've corrupted society

I love this song to bits, its so direct and intense... it has the meatiest intro, I fucking love it how it builds up and then EXPLODES in heavyness.. GRRRR Robb Flyn is the man in this song, so intense and agressive sounding.... I can't say enough good things about Take My Scars!!!!!

I am surprised no one has mentioned the clearly obvious allusion that this song is about religion.

I'd go as far as saying this is anti-religion as he is opposed to those thinking they are holier than thou judging him, when they've been raised by a "silver spoon" compared to his hard life. Also the end seems to suggest that "blind faith" is ignorant and "wrong", and therefore people should be opening their eyes to reality rather than hoping for a messiah to heal all their wounds.

To summarise, I feel he is telling people not to rely on the church/religion to necessarily get you through the hard times and that you need to take it upon yourself to heal your scars. In essence the title is ironic in that it is saying don't expect God to "take your scars", you need to wear them and overcome them yourself!
