Elizabeth On The Bathroom Floor Lyrics
Laying on the bathroom floor
Kitty licks my cheek once more
And I could try
But waking up is harder
when you wanna die
Walter's on the telephone
Tell him I am not at home
'Cause I think that I am going
To a place where I am always high
My name's Elizabeth
My life is shit and piss
Kitty licks my cheek once more
And I could try
But waking up is harder
when you wanna die
Tell him I am not at home
'Cause I think that I am going
To a place where I am always high
My life is shit and piss

I am reading Mark's autobiography now, and Elizabeth is definitely his sister and I'm pretty sure this is a reference to a previous unsuccessful suicide attempt. This song is particularly powerful but even more so, when you've read the book. I would really recommend it, it's a really interesting read..
The lyrics of this song actually came from the most recent diary entry of E's sister before she attempted suicide. In some ways i dont think this song is depressing, its just about Elisabeth wanting to be free from all of the bad happenings in the world, sometimes i dont blame her. I think of this song more as puzzling and sleepy rather than sad and depressing.
I read that this was about a suicide attempt, not THE suicide. E found her on the bathroom floor, but she eventually committed suicide in Honolulu.
Reading the autobiography, this song is pretty explicit in it's detail. It's a previous suicide attempt, and not the one that killed her. Only her boyfriend on the phone is called Robert. Probably to conceal identity, or even artistic freedom; Walter sounds better anyway.
do not quote me on any of information i say i find this all online: this song here is about a real person, elizabeth who killed herself and the song has words from her diary entry with some of her last ever recorded words, elizabeth has go to many pysc wards, and song is about her attempt at 19 years, she did eventually take her own life (1996) not sure how old she had been, her mother died of lung cancer (1998) her father died aswell (1982), and one of her cousins were a flight attendant on that plane which crashed into the pentagon on same day as 9/11.
keep in mind this is information i find, not all credible sources. sorry if is written bad english is not my first language.
@mosvik92 in addition, as apparently she take her life in Honolulu

no, zeeboi's right, this is about his sister, he wrote the whole album when his sister and his mother and someone else he was close to died. he also wrote Daisies Of The Galaxy at the same time because he thought that this album was too sad and he wanted to write something happy also. he just waited a bit to release it.
Actually I read somewhere that this song is a reference to a previous, unsuccessful suicide attempt by his sister, Elizabeth.
Scrap that, further research (I have nothing better to do) has shown me that she was actually his sister and that he had a mum so possibly, just possibly, wasn't an orphan.
I didn't know any of that. I found it strangely uplifting even though it was obviously a sad song.It just kept playing over and over in my head for three days. It was really odd. I had just assumed it was the heroin overdose of a dear friend of his. The music in contrast to the words seems soaring and peaceful. I like it.
The last few moments of his sister's life before she died after committing suicide. Very scary and very painful.
