I Don't Know You Anymore Lyrics
I would like to visit you for a while
Get away and out of this city
Maybe I shouldn't have called but someone had to be the first to break
We can go sit on your back porch
Relax
Talk about anything
It don't matter
I'll be courageous if you can pretend that you've forgiven me
'Cos I don't know you anymore
I don't recognize this place
The picture frames have changed and so has your name
We don't talk much anymore
We keep running from the pain
But what I wouldn't give to see your face again
Springtime in the city, always such relief from the winter freeze
The snow is more lonely than cold if you know what I mean
Everyone's got an agenda, don't stop
Keep that chin up, you'll be alright
Can you believe what a year it's been, are you still the same?
Has your opinion changed?
'Cos I don't know you anymore
I don't recognize this place
The picture frames have changed and so has your name
We don't talk much anymore
We keep running from these sentences
But what I wouldn't give to see your face again
I know I let you down
Again and again
I know I never really treated you right
I've paid the price
I'm still paying for it every day
So maybe I shouldn't have called
Was it too soon to tell?
Oh what the hell
It doesn't really matter
How do you redefine something that never really had a name?
Has your opinion changed?
'Cos I don't know you anymore
I don't recognize this place
The picture frames have changed and so has your name
We don't talk much anymore
We keep running from the pain
But what I wouldn't give to see your face again
I see your face
I see your face
Get away and out of this city
Maybe I shouldn't have called but someone had to be the first to break

so studly.....
this song is actually about darren talking about how much he misses his wife after they divorced, and you can really feel his pain and sadness in it.
This song is sad, but beatiful. I think we all know what it is like when a relationship ends and you realise that the person you once knew changed and isn't the same any more...
This is a really touching song. I really enjoy it. It really hits me hard when he says "I've paid the price, I'm still paying for it every day." I know just how that feels. Thanks.

I know this song started out being about Darren's ex wife, but I think over time it began to also hold true about the relationship he and Daniel had. At shows before/after they'd do this song, Darren would say "don't go", I didn't even realize that until they'd broken up (it just sounded like those little notes he does). That's one thing I love about it, it's gotten a new meaning after time's passed.
It's hard learning that your ex has moved on while you're still suffering from your break up.
I completely agree with Savagedstar. I think a lot of Darrens songs ended up being about that topic as well.
The piano in this song is really beautiful, it compliments the lyrics really well.
This is the last song in Affirmation, and ended up being the last Savage Garden song. Probably the one that touches me the most, that brings tears to my eyes. As it was said before, it is about Darren missing her ex-wife, who apparently is over him and has started a new relationship. It tears you apart to know that you're no longer part of your loved one, but you're still thinking about him and somehow you can't leave the past behind. I'm still there, and I know how it feels to long to see your former love's face...But you know he is not the same anymore, he has changed so much and there's no way to go back.
"I would like to visit you for awhile, get away and out of this city"
What A SONG!!! really amazing, one of the best savage garden's songs, a lot of meaning, a lot of touching words, I think I'm already living something alike, but it's not a year ("can you believe what a year it's been"), it was just a month, she changed and WE DON'T TALK TOO MUCH ANYMORE, it really seems like we are running from the pain =(, but just like the song says How do you redefine something that never really had a name?????
