L'Amour Looks Something Like You Lyrics

You came out of the night
Wearing a mask in white colour
My eyes were shining on the wine
And your aura
All in order we move into the boudoir
But too soon the morning has resumed

CHORUS
I'm hanging on the Old Goose Moon
You look like an angel
Sleeping it off at a station
Were you only passing through?
I'm dying for you just to touch me
And feel all the energy rushing right up-a-me
L'amour looks something like you

The thoughts of you sends me shivery
I'm dressed in lace sailing down a black reverie
My heart is thrown to the pebbles
And the boatmen
All the time I find I'm living in that evenine
With that feeling of sticky love inside

CHORUS

I can't believe no one else has commented on this song. This song is what sold Kate Bush for me. I really love this CD, but this track will always stand out to me. It's so God damn beautiful/sexy.

i think it's about a one night stand "my eyes were shining on the wine"she's been drinking alchohol "too soon the morning has resumed"the night is over and so is the moment "you look like an angel sleeping it of at the station"he's very beautiful and stands out from all other "were you only passing through?" are you only here for this night" "feel all the energy rushing right up-a-me"a wave of passion "the thoughts of you sends me shivery" she's remembering the night and having a little regret "my heart is thrown to the pebbles"she has thrown her love away in one moment "All the time I find I'm living in that evenine"she can't stop thinking about it

Agh, what a beautiful song!!!

The song seems to contain references (wine/aura/night/mask) consistent with a woman undertaking a magic ritual to summon up an incubus which comes to her and with whom she has sex with. (Black reverie/boatmen etc may be a reference to the river Styx). The words in the title looks something like you show that the object of her desire is not something of love itself but a phantasm that substitutes for love.

Many of Kate's songs contain references to magic rituals, most notably in the song "Lily" where a magic ritual is described (although in the traditional ritual, Raphael and Gabriel are the other way round to the song)
