Kite Lyrics

Beelzebub is aching in my belly-o
My feet are heavy and I'm rooted in my wellios
And I want to get away and go
From all these mirror windows
I look at eye level it isn't good enough
And then I find it out when I take a good look up
There's a hole in the sky with a big eyeball
Calling me

CHORUS Come up and be a kite
And fiy a diamond night
A diamond kite a dïamond kìte
Ooh what a diamond!

A diamond kite on a diamond flight
Over the lights under the moon
Over the lights under the moon
Over the moon over the moon

I feel a rush along my body like a bullet
I'm 2D after a push and pull feeling
And I want to get back to safe home
I love the homeland dome
I got no limbs I'm like a feather on the wind
Well I'm not sure if I want to be up here at all
And I'd like to be back on the ground
But I don't know how to get down
CHORUS

I agree. I love this song.

I think the meaning is pretty straightfoward. The narrator is tired of life and stress. So she wishes she were a kite so she could fly and not have worries...somehow, her wish is granted, and though at first she likes her new life as a kite, she soon realizes she's completely out of her element; she's a fish out of water, and she longs for the safe ground again.

A lot of meanings flowing around in this very allegorical song.

I think it's about astral travel.

Ahem...this song is most definitely about a sacramental mushroom experience, specifically amanita muscaria. "Beelzebub" is a nickname for this fungus. It is straight out of the Bible. I highly recommend John Allegro's "The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross" and anything by Gordon Wasson.

I've heard from various people that this song was about getting your period, but I think it's really about the war on drugs, and saline breast implants.
