Are You Ready For The Fallout? Lyrics

I was wondering how you're feeling
i thought I saw you kneeling
And holding your gut last night
It looked like you were praying
But I heard someone saying
You had been in an awful fight
You get the worst of it everytime
Lashing out with no reason or rhyme
To lose all this rage, at so tender an age
Little baby growing up in a rat cage

Chorus 1:
Are you ready for the fallout?
Who you gonna call out?
When does it finally come to blows?
I think that you're forgetting
The blood that you'll be letting
Has a price on it, no one knows it
You may be suffering in your sleep
You may be getting in too deep
And you may not care for advice that I share
If you want it then I'll be there

Chorus 2:
Soon you will learn how to swallow a tear
So when you're old you can cry in your beer
Do you spit at the face staring back in the mirror?
Do you have any self respect?

Chorus 2

Well what the hell did you expect?

Chorus 1

Are you ready for the fallout?
Who you gonna call out?

I think it's about a drug addict and not wanting help and heading for the fallout. If it's not, it's still my favorite fastball song

I've liked this song since the first time I heard it and it remains to be one of my favorite Fastball songs. It's just really catchy and you can listen to it over and over again and its just one of those songs that doesn't get old.

I think this song is talking about being able to look ahead and think about the consequences of your actions. The singer is talking to someone who appears to continually use bad judgment ('you get the worst of it everytime'). It uses the context of a fight, but he's warning that every action can have its unforeseen consequence ('i think that you're forgetting the blood that you'll be letting has a price on it no one knows'). in a catalog full of absolutely fantastic lyrical and melodic songs, this has got to be up there as one of my all-time favorites! Who could have imagined that this came from one of the cheesiest movies of all-time??

"Fallout" became a "thing" in 1954, with the test of one of the first thermonuclear weapons. Before then, no one really appreciated all the consequences of setting H-bombs off. After the Castle Bravo test, whole island villages were exposed to horrible radiation falling from the sky, their newborn children horribly deformed, their skin blistered and burned. That wasn't supposed to happen, but one of the test planners didn't read a weather report correctly, and instead of falling into open water, the radiation landed on people (one Japanese fisherman died soon after the test from radiation).

The radiation fell out of the sky, so it was called "fallout".

Ever since then, "fallout" has meant "the horrible things that happen when you do something rash you haven't thought all the way through". That's exactly the theme in this song.

The singer is talking to an immature friend who gets into horrible fights, and always loses, because the friend isn't ready for what happens after acting rashly and winds up bent over and crying - feeling the fallout.
