i think this song is about two people arguing with eachother about an addiction one of them has. He has tried hard to stop his friend from using but the more he tries the farther his friend pushes away(i.e. "my new friends they make me feel alright"). then, in the last lines, the user has realized his friend was right but was too little too late because the damage has been done.
yeah pretty predictable theme! the music rules though!
