Running On Faith Lyrics
Lately I've been running on faith
What else can a poor boy do?
But my world will be right
When love comes over you
Lately I've been talking in my sleep
I can't imagine what I'd have to say
Except my world will be right
When love comes back your way
I've always been
One to take each and every day
Seems like by now
I'd find a love who cares just for me
Then we'd go running on faith
All of our dreams would come true
And our world will be right
When love comes over me and you
Chorus
Then we'd go running on faith
All of our dreams would come true
And our world will be right
When love comes over me and you
When love comes over you
What else can a poor boy do?
But my world will be right
When love comes over you
I can't imagine what I'd have to say
Except my world will be right
When love comes back your way
One to take each and every day
Seems like by now
I'd find a love who cares just for me
All of our dreams would come true
And our world will be right
When love comes over me and you
All of our dreams would come true
And our world will be right
When love comes over me and you
When love comes over you

oh my gosh. I love Mr. Clapton, and this songs is one of the reasons why. Simply put, it's inredible.
I think she means 'incredible'^
This song is a great love song, I suggest the live version from 24 Nights. It is a classic love song about a man who doesn't have much to offer, and he is looking for a mate. He explains the importance of having faith in what he believes in and hopes for it everyday. He is in love...
great song...great song! anything you listen to by EC is great though!
Ive been listening to this song lately since i feel the same damn way right now. My luck with women has been real bad, no matter how hard i try man. I guess women dont like the lack of things I have to offer. So all ive been doing is running on faith. It kinda sucks for real.
This song is one of the most emotional songs Eric Clapton sings. I always took it to be about someone who lost a very great love, and is pretty much empty without it and feels like everything would be alright if that love returned. I love the way Clapton sings the line "and we'd go running on faith." It is like he is imagining a moment with the woman he loves that would overcome him with peace and contentment. Like it is all that he wants in the world. So powerful, especially if you identify with that interpretation.

Best version definitely on Unplugged
Eric Clapton is one of the finest musicians in history. I hope he knows how much we love him and how he brings our households up when we're down. All we have to do is put in the CD. He is a gift from God.
I agree with all of the comments above. It seems to me to be such a heartfelt song about a man in love, who feels that everything will be right in his world if the girl he loves would just realise how perfect things would be if they were together. (maybe it was inspired by his love for Pattie Boyd, but inability to do anything about it) I love the bit where he sings: 'Lately I've been talking in my sleep, can't imagine what I have to say...' it shows the depth of emptiness he feels. Ah just a great song.
I just turned 30 years old, and have a memory behind most of his songs. My father and my uncle listened to this song and many others on the Unplugged album ALL the time. I was young, and of course didn't realize the value behind heartfelt lyrics and the power they have to reach out to someone and make them feel less alone. At that point in my youth, my family was going through a hard time, but I don't remember the details about those hard times as much as I remember so many times in the car with those two singing and talking about music. Now that I'm not a kid, I relish this song so much and I understand the heartbreak behind it. It doesn't have to translate exactly as a love song.. it could be about any type of heartbreak. Right now, my house is being foreclosed because I got very sick, couldn't work, and had to go through chemo treatments. The disease ruined my chances of a career, having children, a home my husband and I worked hard for, and it stole years of my life I cannot get back. I had to learn to just let go of the bitterness and salvage my joy. Create new dreams with the person I love and stay thankful for all of the people in my life who I hold dear. So, ...we go running on faith. Also, to this day, my uncle doesn't send a letter or email without the salutation "Running on faith." before his signature.
