White Lightning Lyrics
No promises, No guarantees
When you come down here
You're already on your knees
You wanna ride White lightnin'
Then sign your name
If you wanna dance with the devil
You gotta play his way - play the game
You gotta taste that sweetness
'Cos you can't say no
But are you ready for the nightmare
When you can't let go
Like a soldier of fortune
When the money runs dry
You got rivers of bitter tears - in your eyes
(BRIDGE:)
You wanna leave but you can't let go
You wanna stop but you can't say no
You'll never laugh about it
You just can't live without it
You had enough but you just want more
You never get what you're lookin' for
You'll never laugh about it - never
You got both ends burning
You're like a moth to a flame
You're going off the rails
Like a runaway train
It's a no-win situation
And there's no way out
And no one will ever hear you - scream and shout
(repeat BRIDGE)
Run - He's coming to claim you
Run - Nowhere to hide away
Run - Oh, you dance with danger
Run - Oh, you gotta ride the...
(CHORUS:)
White Lightnin'
On a dead end street
White Lightnin'
Where the deadbeats meet
White Lightnin'
It's a one-way ride
White Lightnin'
Oh, there's nowhere to hide
Such a lonely road you ride
It's not easy when you don't know why
Such a heavy load you hide
You never leave no matter how you try
Run - He's coming to claim you
Run - Nowhere to hide away
Run - You dance with danger
Run - Oh, you gotta ride the...
(repeat CHORUS)
White Lightning
Can you feel it, can you feel it?
White Lightning
It's so dangerous

No promises, no guarantees

...great song...i miss steve clark
great dedication to the late great Steve Clark, ashame he isnt still here, sadly missed, this one is definately for him
Best song off of "Adreanlize" and one of my all time favorites. I don't think this was actually a dedication to Steve Clark since he was still alive when it was written. There's a song on the "Slang" album that is actually a dedication to ol' Steve "Steamin'" Clark, but I don't have the album.
I remember reading an interview with Joe Elliott about the time Adrenalize came out (92?). The song was about the struggle both the band and Clark went through trying to get him sober. I remember exactly where I was when I heard he was dead, and this song will always be my favourite Leps track.
In reference to Teufel's comment, Steve WAS NOT still alive when this song was written... Take it from me, a guitar player of 27 years, and a HUGE DL fan, Steve was dead and gone when this song was written. The last DL song Steve recorded on Adrenalize was "Have you ever needed someone so Bad?" The album stalled almost a year after Steve died... this song was added to the album after Phil Collen wrote it for "steamin Steve"... Miss him... he was unbelievable, but he couldn't handle fame... He also never thought of himself as a great guitar player... boy what a wasted talent...
OK, now I can only see drug addiction in this one.
Letmein, this is not about drug addiction. Steve Clark suffered from alchoholism and in an interview with Def Leppard, they state that "This song is dedicated towards Steve. But it's a dark song and Steve wouldn't want us to remember him like this."
Well, you know, alchoholism is drug addiction.
You should have stated what your defintion of drug addiction was because Steve did not suffer from a drug addiction. He did die of an overdose of prescrisription drugs mixed with alcohal. But the main reason is due to alcohalism.
this song is black masked........the solo part.........it says '"she's got the rythm of love", this phrase is taken from the song heaven is... those who cant find it , mail me i ll send it to u
