Murder on the Dancefloor Lyrics

It's murder on the dance floor
You'd better not kill the groove, DJ
Gonna burn this god damn house right down

I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know
About your kind
And so and so and so and so and so and so and so
I'll have to play

If you think you're gettin' away
I will prove you wrong
I'll take you all the way
Boy, just come along
Hear me when I say
Hey!

It's murder on the dance floor
But you'd better not kill the grove
Hey, hey
It's murder on the dance floor
But you'd better not steal the moves, DJ
Gonna burn this Goddamn house right down

Oh, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know
There may be others
And so and so and so and so and so and so and so
You'll just have to pray

If you think you're gettin' away
I will prove you wrong
I'll take you all the way
Stay another song
I'll blow you all away
Hey!

It's murder on the dance floor
But you'd better not kill the groove
Hey, hey
It's murder on the dance floor
But you'd better not steal the moves, DJ
Gonna turn this house around some how

Murder on the dance floor
But you'd better not kill the groove
Hey hey
Murder on the dance floor
But you'd better not steal the moves, DJ
Gonna burn this Goddamn house right down

Don't think you'll get away
I will prove you wrong
I'll take you all the way
Boy, just come along
Hear me when I say
Hey

It's murder on the dance floor
But you'd better not kill the grove
It's murder on the dance floor
But you'd better not steal the moves, DJ
Gonna burn this Goddamn house right down
It's murder on the dance floor
But you'd better not kill the grove

Hey, hey
It's murder on the dance floor
But you'd better not steal the moves, DJ
Gonna burn this Goddamn house right down
It's murder on the dance floor
But you'd better not kill the grove

Hey, hey
It's murder on the dance floor
But you'd better not steal the moves, DJ
Gonna burn this god damn house right down

This song is IMHO, about a Woman who go out with a "player" , know it will end badly, but try to do it anyway.

"It's murder on the dance floor" - I break the rule of this date game.

"You'd better not kill the groove, DJ" - Don't kill my love mood

"Gonna burn this god damn house right down" - or I will do terrible thing

"I know,About your kind" - the kind of guy you are

"And so I'll have to play" - to give you what you want to try to seduce/change you

"If you think you're gettin' away I will prove you wrong" - if you think you will just have fun and leave me , i will proove you wrong

"I'll take you all the way" (to the wedding, to the conclusions of this relation ship)

"Boy, just come along"

So yeah, It's just my interpretation but I feel it pretty consistent with the tone of the lyrics. She is just ready to do anything to get his man that she crush on to be serious, even if it's not a good thing to do , and even if she become a bit of a player too by manipulating him as he just try to seduce and play with her.

Crazy about Sophie. She's amazing.

This is one of those songs that could mean a lot of different things, and I'm not going to try and define it all. Just going to say it's extremely catchy, like all her songs, and I love it. Probably my favorite.
