Sometimes Salvation Lyrics
To lessen my troubles
I stopped hanging out with vultures
And empty saviours like you
I wish I had a nickel for every miracle
That you easily tricked me into
You can lead a horse to water
But faith is another matter
So don't you surrender
Cause sometimes salvation
In the eye of the storm
I've no time for accusations
Or conversations on all the bad, bad things you do.
Just a note from your jailor
Drugs and the relations
To all the people around you
You can lead a horse to water
But faith is another matter
So don't you surrender
Cause sometimes salvation
In the eye of the storm
I've kept secret your superstitions
And all its twisted wisdom
That I fell into
Sister can you try and find me?
I stopped hanging out with vultures
And empty saviours like you
I wish I had a nickel for every miracle
That you easily tricked me into
But faith is another matter
So don't you surrender
Cause sometimes salvation
In the eye of the storm
Or conversations on all the bad, bad things you do.
Just a note from your jailor
Drugs and the relations
To all the people around you
But faith is another matter
So don't you surrender
Cause sometimes salvation
In the eye of the storm
And all its twisted wisdom
That I fell into

My liner notes say "I stopped hanging out with vultures".
SOMETIMES SALVATION! is all you have. This is my first lover. I was 16 he was 22. I would have done anything for him. All he had to do was tell me and it was done. He could have put a loaded gun in my hand and told me to rob a store to support our drug additions and I would have done it without looking back, No remorse. Part of our relationship was the element of excitment of getting caught. My parents could have had him arrested for stautory rape, but as I learned later, my mother had faith in me that I would come out of it on my own. She was right. At 21 I turned my life around. I wanted it. I did it. "you can lead a horse to water..." but it has to be up to that person to change. I just realized he was going no where, not going to change and I got tired of the constant party. I was ready to venture out and take a look beyond the horizon. "Too lessen my troubles..." the vultures were my boyfriend and all the drug-induced friends around him.
"Sometimes salvation's in the eye of the storm": You got to go through alot of termoil to get to the peace. Change is not always easy.
Inside I believe I was wating for someone to save me. "Sister can you try and find me?" I wasn't myself and I wanted someone to FIND me. I just started improving my self. I replaced one drug for another. I started exercising and eating, better. I felt better and looked better than ever. Soon someone found me and we fell in love.
Maybe it just about all the shit you got to just go through to get to a better place. Dunno?
The black crowes run in my blood. They get me. I get them. They get to me. Ahhhhh yeah....Whoaaaa....Sis'ta...
You know Yatra, I've had a hard time deciphering the lyrics, especially the chorus because its a little jagged. But your story and explanation makes so much sense and is so clear. I want to thank you for that.

I have always loved this track and giving us a candid, fearless look into your past and how this song relates, has made it so much more meaningful. Sis'ta you are beautiful and inspiring! Thank You!

The ultimate "you done me wrong" song. One of the best break up songs ever! Between Chris Robinson's blistering lyrics and Marc Ford's passion filled guitar-riff, this song is pure perfection. One of my top 10 songs of all time.
