Jealous Again Lyrics

Cheat the odds that made you
Brave to try to gamble at times
Well I feel like dirty laundry
Sending sickness on down the line
Tell you why

'Cause I'm jealous, jealous again
Thought it time I let you in
Yeah, I'm jealous, jealous again
Got no time, baby

Always drunk on Sunday
Try'n to feel like I'm at home
Smell the gasoline burning
Boys out feeling nervous and cold

(Repeat 1st Chorus)

Stop, understand me
I ain't afraid of losing face
Stop, understand me
I ain't afraid of ever losing faith in you

Never felt like smiling
Sugar wanna' kill me yet
Find me loose lipped and laughing
Singing songs ain't got no regrets

(Repeat 1st and 2nd Chrous)

Don't you think I want to
Don't you think I would
Don't you think I'd tell you baby
If I only could
Am I acting crazy
Am I just too proud
Am I just plain lazy
Am I, Am I, Am I, ever

(Repeat 1st Chorus)

Nah... that's not it. He's reassuring his girl that he actually does care. He's just too proud to admit it. Dirty laundry is inactive... it just sits there. It's a metaphor for his lack of expression of his love, and it spreads, because when he doesn't express his love, its recipricol. Being jealous shows that a person cares about what the other is doing and doesn't like competition. The 2nd verse says, "I'm always out of town on tour, (always drunk on Sunday, their off-day), but I'm still nervous about what you're doing and misses her (feeling cold). The third verse says he's trying not to show he's concerned, by playing it cool. The last verse, the best one in my opinion, shows his frustration... don't you think I'd rather be at home? He wishes he could be with her always and wishes he could tell her that, but he thinks that would make him weak, a wuss, always talking about how much he loves her.

Awesome song for all those who have self-respect and pride.

Rock n Roll will always be here, as long as people are here. It’s such as simple form of music, difficult to be original, but every so often, when it seems things are dire for gutsy music, real rock n Roll, three chords and a killer groove will be done so well it makes you forget you ever felt something was missing. It links the crowes back to the stones, Yardbirds, Aerosmith, et al, which links back to the Source, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jerry Lee, Elvis… Yes, I recall when this was released, in the hair metal days of ‘90, and it was very refreshing. Down n’ Dirty rock n roll may never again be the overall-popular chart-topping entity it once was, but that’s not that important; there’s always an audience for bands with balls, who played gutsy, meaningful music. None of the Crowes subsequent albums ever grabbed me like Shake Your Moneymaker (although i don’t dislike them or anything), but Jealous Again is a rep-establishing song. What guitar!

The song is about a guy and girl in a relationship that includes group sex/sharing.

The guy is conflicted, but keeps going back to it. Each time he sees his girl with other guys during an orgy or whatever, he kind of likes it but is jealous at the same time.

It’s the same theme as Hendrix - Let Me Stand Next To Your Fire.

Read the lyrics that way and it all makes sense.

Jealous again, thought it time I let you in. He’s telling her how he feels conflicted

Stop, understand me, I ain’t afraid of losing face/faith. He’s telling her he doesn’t feel less manly from it/still loves and trusts her.

“Smell the gasoline burning, boys out feeling nervous and cold” The other guys in this deal are firing up the pipe to get everyone high and get the party started.

@Yallqueda That is as good an interpretation as any I've heard. ....and you're right, If I read it that way, it all comes into focus. Thanx. -WBP
