Flashdance II Lyrics
[Monkey:] I am a very naughty monkey, and I really think this band is really shit.
Ha ha. I'm naughty.
[Matt:] Okay, just forget it man.
[Boy:] Alright you slam your band !
[Matt:] You're fired ! I told you! We really fucking hate this band, they suck!
She was a dancer I was out work
She had a law degree, I used to be a clerk
She takes her clothes off for the Japanese
I take my clothes off whenever it suits me
Barely living, but I'm living large
Well it ain't the ending that I fear
So lets go downtown
And walk around til you feel like the walls are caving in
You could sail beside the world tonight
They were taken, and they would ruin you
You could sell us every words tonight
She had a name like April Spring
But her mother called her Judy
She takes her clothes off for the Japanese
She says they're nicer than most would be
Barely living, but we're living large
Well ain't the middle that I fear
Put in the ground
And wait arund til you feel like the walls are caving in
you could sail beside the world tonight
And they were taken
And they would ruin you
Well her hate is still prettier in person
Prettier than words now, prettier than, prettier than me
You could sail beside the world tonight
You're turning into the biggest it all gets
And my head is so light
You're turning into the biggest it all gets
And my head is so light, so, so light
You could sail beside the world tonight
And they were taken, and they would ruin you
Well her hate is prettier in person
Prettier than words now, prettier than me...

I love this song. I think it's the song of two kids trying to make a living while having a relationship. She's a stripper and he's a somebody. Her Mom was always downplaying her and all her accomplishments
This song is about a smart stripper.
you could sail beside the world tonight And they were taken And they would ruin you
Those lyrics right there are purely beautiful. I can somewhat understand what they mean but so much that i can put it in words.
I performed this song during acting class airband in Grade 11. My friend who was supposed to bring proper instruments didn't show up, so it didn't go as well as it could've.
By the way, the above lyrics actually are: "You could sell the sad the world tonight And they would take it And they would ruin you"
Thank you. I wish someone would fix the lyrics on this page.

I think this song speaks on how we all are forced to fit into roles in society. Though the girl has a law degree, other jobs such as stripping provide more money than the one she currently has. Though it's not really a life, it makes a decent amount of money (Barely living, but we're living large). The song says that the girl can stop at any time (You could sail beside the world tonight). However, there is a cost of breaking the cycle of our lives, which is illustrated even better with the world being spherical and orbiting in a circular path. The people in the world would take what little she has and ruin her.
Also, the illustration of her name being April Spring, which is obviously not a real name, as opposed to Judy shows that even though that's not who she really is, people view her as April Spring the stripper rather than Judy the person.
Living in large cities, people often feel so insignificant. They're a number, not a person. When you're walking downtown with all the skyscrapers, it can feel like they're just going to collapse on you because you're so significant.
this song.. makes my heart happy. I love when he busts out with "BARELY LIVING BUT I'M LIVING LARGE" this song makes me wanna do just that.. live large no matter where I am in my life.
Aren't the chrous lyrics:
You could sell the sad the world tonight, And they would take it, And they would ruin you. You sell the sad the world, tonight.
Implying that she is giving her "customers" "the world" that night by satisfying their carnal desires but that it would ruin her by being a stripper.
