Indestructible

I didn't understand this song until I found out Matt is bipolar. I'm not bipolar but I know a few people who are and they do feel indestructible- it's part of the disease. "I'm in two" means there are two personalities- manic and depressive.

I could be way off, but I'm going to play Devil's advocate here. What if, like the majority of his manifestos, proclaiming "I'm indestructible" is completely satirical. I agree that the main theme is love and relationships, however I lean towards the notion he's referring his own personal insecurities, while appearing fine on the surface, his introverted nature aids in tearing him a part, ranging from feeling inadeqaute compared to his girlfirend/better half and the relationship suffers. Hence the generalized statements that refer to dying, symbolizing the relationship's tumultuous nature. The kicker is that they love each other so much that they're willing to work towards salvaging the relationship, and are unfortunately stuck in a cyclical loop, where Matt constantly gives into his insecurities, trying hard to reach what he feels his girlfriend deserves. Ultimately, while their bond is strong, characterized by Matt's proclamation of feeling indestructible around her, the other side of the coin plays a dehabilitating role as the relationship continues to fall a part. In the end, he wants the best for her, and while he loves and will be there for her (the stereo), he continues to breakdown ("I'm into, I'm in two") under the immense pressure he puts himself through....I could be way out in leftfield, but it's a thought.

My flavour of the month right now. Reminds me of the X-men, someone who keeps coming back? Maybe hes making fun of when people say 'I'll be with you forever'? Someone who loves this person so much they're willing to let the other person make their own mistakes?

mat good can be too confusing, if he is singing to express himself he should cut back on the imagery and be a bit more straight forward. i know ther has to be meaning to the song but he needs to explain himself better or i give up on him.

Matt's songs are confusing, but that doesn't mean they don't hv any meaning. I THINK basically this song parallels a relationship that is so strong, but despite the intense love the couple has, they are continually faced with complications, and fate is against them. (That why it talks about him dying, but promising her he'll make up for it by coming back, giving her a stereo, ext.) In the end though, the two are so frusterated that he decides to give in to dying as she decides to come along with him. (We won't say a thing, while you give your life away.)

Personally I think all good art is ambiguous in that it can take multiple meaning, any artist worth his weight will recognize this. While I do agree that this song is confusing in that there is not a clear meaning, I do think it's about love and how he will always come back to the one he likes even if they do not know he is around. Although this is one of many possible interpertations.

I think, in a lot of ways, this song is about innocence and basic love. He's singing about him and another person(girl), who see the world different than most people. They are more concerned with being genuinely happy then letting the jadedness of the world get to them. "We won't say a thing, while you give you live away" refers to most people - who are too cynical/jaded to believe in real love/happiness.

I love this song. I also think he is singing about no matter what happens to him, how bad he is, she sticks around. He is the more unstable one in the relationship, and everyday "we start again. And im thinking by "We wont say a thing, while you give your life away" means he thinks she is waisting her time with him, yet still staying. Because of the strong love/bond mentioned before. So basically, he thinks, maybe she thinks, and maybe everyone else thinks he is the worst out of the two. Awesome song.
