In Love Lyrics

I remember
The night we met
That night we sat
Entwined
Under summer skies
I looked into your eyes
You looked into mine
You said "you're not like the rest"
And I nodded
"No one understands me"
you said
And I nodded once again,
As if to agree that all men are indeed the same
Somehow, you said, I was different

For months on end I maintained
A venere of sincere interest
As if I were listening
As you re-lived every page
Of self help and new age that you had read
And
I went in for the kill
I'd read the same books
I learned to ape the motions of a 'sensitive' human being
And we were 'oh so happy'
But you found things to fix
And I knew it was time
To move on

So now you have me completely figured out
You feel sorry for me
I can't express my feelings
I can't tell the truth
We are all alike
At puberty I was sworn to secrecy
By the international brotherhood
Of lying fickle males
I can't tell you anything
And
I can't commit
You're right
I can't commit... to you

I will always cherish our time together
I don't feel enough of anything
To harbor the kind of distain that you'll maintain
You painted me into what you wanted to see
And that's fine
But you will never know me

Here are the background lyrics:

Oleander holly Crimson feed of thalia Beautiful to hold me, my baby the only one who really understands me

Floating hand and hand we whisper in the moonlight and say that i'm the things you want to see

Coda and her star child

Goddess of the moonlight hold me in the morning and tell me I'm the only one alive who really understands you

Tell me pretty stories Say you understand me, my baby the things you want to see that I could never be

In Love... In Love...

Hold me in morning Tell me pretty stories Say that your the only one, my baby But I could never be

In Love... In Love...

Oleander holly Crimson feed of thalia beautiful to hold me, my baby the only one who really understands me

So..the lyrics are beautiful and then William Shatner is speaking it? I'd much rather have Ben Folds singing it. It lacks emotion, makes me laugh rather than touch me like Ben Folds other songs. It's just, crazy!

this is a cool song...i love the last song...that's how i feel about everyone in my life...like no one really knows me, they all just see what they want to see, hear what they want to hear, no matter what i'm saying, it's like no one i know ever gets all of it...and they dont care enough to try...it's so odd...

Though most of this song is William Shatner blabbing on, it all adds up to a disgruntled male at the end of a relationship we would see a lot in these days. The chick is some new age emotional person, trying to figure Billy out... and he's just playing a lot with it, because he wants some loving. Me and my cousin used to "say" along to this song on the bus. It was kind of scary that we knew all the words.

Even if William Shatner's previous attempts at songs were somewhat shitty, this one certainly digs him out of the hole he was once in.

It is beautiful.

I like it. I wish more people would do what Shatner does, or Shatner would do what he did with Common People and LSD more often. I think in some ways it has more emotion than plain singing, because, seriously, when i'm emotional, I don't go and sing it all out. Usually...

I think the background lyric "Crimson feed of thalia" is actually "Crimson feet of Kali."

From Wikipedia, Kali is "a Hindu goddess associated with death and destruction. Despite her negative connotations, she is not actually the goddess of death, but rather of Time and Change." The crimson feet alludes to the blood of Shiva, on whose dead body she stands.

Deep, man!
