Lucretia walks into a room.
Because she does it’s not the same room
The one she wanted to be in
She says, “Everywhere I go, damn! There I am.”
And I just want to walk away
Won’t you let me walk away sometimes?
Won’t you let me walk away?
Every one of you is fired
I’m just an ordinary guy
And all I want is to be loved - is that so wrong?
Don’t think that I don’t know what you’re saying about me
I hear it all through these thin walls
And I just want to walk away
Won’t you let me walk away this time?
I just want to walk away
Every one of you is fired
Every one of you is oh oh oh oh
Every one of you is fired, yeah!
(Ooh!)
I just want to walk away
Won’t you let me walk away this time?
'Cause I just want to walk away
Every one of you is fired
Every one of you is oh oh oh oh
Every one of you is fired
Every one of you is oh oh oh oh
Fired
MOTHERFUCKER!
Because she does it’s not the same room
The one she wanted to be in
She says, “Everywhere I go, damn! There I am.”
And I just want to walk away
Won’t you let me walk away sometimes?
Won’t you let me walk away?
And all I want is to be loved - is that so wrong?
Don’t think that I don’t know what you’re saying about me
I hear it all through these thin walls
And I just want to walk away
Won’t you let me walk away this time?
I just want to walk away
Every one of you is oh oh oh oh
Every one of you is fired, yeah!
Won’t you let me walk away this time?
'Cause I just want to walk away
Every one of you is oh oh oh oh
Every one of you is fired
Every one of you is oh oh oh oh

"Lucretia" is paranoid that everyone around her is judging her and talking about her.
"Lucretia walks into a room. Because she does it’s not the same room The one she wanted to be in She says, “Everywhere I go, damn! There I am.”"
She thinks she hears people talking, walks in the room, and it is completely not what she thought. It's a whole different room.
"And I just want to walk away"
She knows she's just making things worse for herself, but can't bring herself to change.
"I’m just an ordinary guy And all I want is to be loved - is that so wrong?"
She doesn't see herself as wrong in any situation. She thinks it's everyone else that is crazy.
"Don’t think that I don’t know what you’re saying about me I hear it all through these thin walls"
Once again- she thinks everyone is against her and talking bad about her.
"Every one of you is fired Every one of you is oh oh oh oh Every one of you is fired, yeah!"
By "firing" all the people around her, she removes them from her life, therefore losing people that may have cared about her and never did anything wrong.
Lucretia fucks up her whole life.
"MOTHERFUCKER!"
The best song ending ever, especially well-fitting for this song.
Okay, guys, hear me out here; this is a song about premature ejaculation. No, seriously, look:
"Lucretia walks into a room; Because she does, It's not the same room, The one she wanted to be in."
The room is her bedroom, and her boyfriend (the narrator) is in her bed. This is no longer merely her the room where she sleeps, no- this is now the room for getting busy. However, she doesn't want to do the dirty because, well, her boyfriend's sort of a two-pump chump. She'd really rather go to sleep.
"She says, 'Everywhere I go, damn, there I am!'"
Perhaps she keeps thinking about all the times before when he let her down in bed, and is therefore technically "with herself". Which is a shame, because she really wants to love him, but finds that she can't due to how quick he gets the job done. So, yes, "Damn! There I am!"
"And I just want to walk away! Won't you let me walk away sometimes? Won't you let me walk away?"
The boyfriend (again, the narrator) is tired of this. He doesn't like it any more than Lucretia does. He wants to walk away from her to spare her from more disappointment.
"Everyone of you is fired!"
His sperm. They're all "fired" through ejaculation.
"I'm just an ordinary guy, And all I want is to be loved- Is that so wrong?"
He just wants to be loved despite his condition. Is that so wrong?
"Don't think that I don't know What you're saying about me, I hear it all through these thin walls!"
Now he finds out that she's talking about his condition behind his back. Needless to say, this upsets him.
"And I just want to walk away! Won't you let me walk away sometimes? Won't you let me walk away? And I just want to walk away..."
Now this part has a different meaning; while he still wants to "walk away", or leave, Lucretia, but for different reasons. Before, it was to let her have someone more satisfying. Now, it's just because he's pissed off.
"Everyone of you is fired! Everyone of you is oh, oh, oh, oh! Everyone of you is fired! Yeah! Woo!"
Ejaculating again. This time it's more obvious, due to the orgasmic grunting.
"(Shut the fuck up...)"
"Now UUDDLRLRBA, what's all this then? That's not a lyric!" I hear you ask your computer screen in confusion. Well, it's hard to hear, but if you have the volume up loud enough, at about two minutes in, you can just barely hear someone (presumably Ben as the boyfriend) say "Shut the fuck up." This is actually important, because it shows how the narrator is fed up with Lucretia talking behind his back. In fact, by this point, he's just about on the brink of leaving.
After this, it's just more of the last two verses, sans "Shut the fuck up..", before we get to my personal favorite part:
"MOTHERFUCKER!"
First, this is the best end to any song, ever. Second, this can be interpreted that at the every end, the narrator breaks up with Lucretia. This is the final insult, him calling her out for the gossipy bitch she is.
Very simply. "I've become a victim of my life choices and I want to start all over."
i just love the music if nothing else. the lyrics..ok.? but i like it. =)
why can't i play the piano like ben folds?? he fucken mashes his elbows into the piano and makes it sound good. aAaaARrRrrrGGGgGGGhhHHhHhhh...
i love this song <33
this song is perfect to practise your air piano to. the lyrics are alright but.. the music is just the best.
when im a boss of some company, im going to learn the piano, walk into a room and play the chorus for everyone on a tiny piano like in charlie brown. its the american dream.
Its like a job where everyone is your enemy - A schizophrenic lifestyle. Everyone is out to get you, so you 'fire' them - Maybe homicidal undertones...
i think this song is about being se fed up with every aspect of your life that you almost want to get rid of everyone in it and start anew someplace else because everyone is constantly criticizing you and thinking that you don't notice or care. his person just feels so trapped with their life.
I feel this song through and through. I've tried pounding a piano in anger, but it doesn't quite sound the same...
Surpasses Rage Against the Machine's "Killing in the Name" for best use of the word "motherfucker" in a song.
