Coming Down Lyrics
If you don't mind
Could we not fight?
I see you're close woman
In the night
I'm sober
Still alive
Waste your days
On your own
Getting drunk
getting stoned
I'm sober
Still alone
Must I always take a back seat?
Must I always be your clown?
Did you ever really love me?
Were you always coming down?
See your face
See your eyes
Shouldn't have left
Shouldn't have lied
I'm sober
Spirit's died
Must I always take a back seat?
Must I always be your clown?
Did you ever really love me?
Were you always coming down?
Must I always take a back seat?
Must I always be your clown?
Did you ever really love me?
Were you always coming down?
Could we not fight?
I see you're close woman
In the night
I'm sober
Still alive
On your own
Getting drunk
getting stoned
I'm sober
Still alone
Must I always be your clown?
Did you ever really love me?
Were you always coming down?
See your eyes
Shouldn't have left
Shouldn't have lied
I'm sober
Spirit's died
Must I always be your clown?
Did you ever really love me?
Were you always coming down?
Must I always be your clown?
Did you ever really love me?
Were you always coming down?

Must I always take a back seat? Must I always be your clown? Did you ever really love me? Were you always coming down?
This definitely means something to me. Not sure if it's the exact same thing he meant when he wrote it, but I think it's about putting your feelings out in the open. You are in the relationship, the other person isn't. I don't know if it really means getting drunk or stoned or high in the literal sense, but if so, "coming down" makes me think like he is asking "did you love me or were you just high all the time?" because what goes up must come down.
and if she's always coming down....
anyway, that's my take.
another one of those "you were the one claiming to be in love, yet it seems I was the only one doing the loving at the time," type songs. I just love the chorus to death!
"must I always take a back seat? must I always be your clown?"
yeah... this is another one for that mix tape I'm working on.
This is a gr8 song riddled with emotion. to me it sounds like the writer was in love with a wreck head and used to get wrecked himself, then when he sobered up he split with this person thinking did you ever really love me or was it just the drugs and drink. Is this song anything to do with the person they talk about in alcoholic they're both on the same album
a boy i was dating at uni started taking so much mdma he couldn't handle our relationship anymore - all he was into was being off his face. he played this song to me once on guitar and i couldn't believe how ignorant he was to the irony of it all.
