Tie Up My Hands Lyrics
Wipe the make-up from your face
Tie your hair and gently fall from grace
Until I come again
Take the disaffected life
Men who ran the company ran your life
You could have been his wife
I wanna love you but my hands are tied
I wanna stay here but I've been denied
Lets watch the clock until the morning sun does rise
Wipe the sweat from off your brow
All that you believe is here and now
You could have had more doubt
Wipe the shadow from your eyes
Rest your daughter while your mother cries
You could have let him fly
I wanna hold you but my hands are tied
I wanna stay here but I've been denied
I wanna lie here 'til we've killed this bitter doubt
I wanna hold you but my hands are tied
I wanna stay here but I've been denied
Lets watch the clock until the morning sun does rise
I wanna hold you but my hands are tied
I wanna sleep here but I've been denied
I wanna stay here 'til we've killed this bitter doubt
I wanna hold you but my hands are tied
I wanna sleep here but I've been denied
Lets watch the clock until the morning sun comes out
Tie your hair and gently fall from grace
Until I come again
Take the disaffected life
Men who ran the company ran your life
You could have been his wife
I wanna stay here but I've been denied
Lets watch the clock until the morning sun does rise
All that you believe is here and now
You could have had more doubt
Rest your daughter while your mother cries
You could have let him fly
I wanna stay here but I've been denied
I wanna lie here 'til we've killed this bitter doubt
I wanna stay here but I've been denied
Lets watch the clock until the morning sun does rise
I wanna sleep here but I've been denied
I wanna stay here 'til we've killed this bitter doubt
I wanna sleep here but I've been denied
Lets watch the clock until the morning sun comes out

this song is so beautiful... the words and music work so well together to show pain that he feels... i think that everyone feels torn between their love and their life at one time or another and this song is about that very division
I think Belle is dead on with this song. It's like you want to spend all your time with the person you love, but life still has to go on. And in particular, in the song, the singer wants to stay with his lover to work things out, but life is pulling him away.
after hearing "poor misguided fool" and "Good Souls," i could not help but seek out the CD from which these songs came. Upon first listen i was greeted by this, the first track on LOVE IS HERE. it is undoubtedly one of my favorite songs ever. everyone i know who hears "Tie Up My Hands" absolutely is left nearly speechless but very much in love with the song and it's deep meaning. Starsailor's songs in general are very emotionally and lyrically deep, plus James Walsh has such a great voice. i was very mesmerized by this song when first listening to it and i think Starsailor are the next Beatles. Almost all their songs are as good as anything the Beatles have ever done and two songs are their new album are produced by Phil Spector (who produced the Beatles LET IT BE).
LOVE IS HERE is amazing, but incredibly depressing. i have a different perception of this song. "i wanna love you but my hands are tied, i wanna stay here but i've been denied" reminds me of a person who is in love with someone, but they can't be with them emotionally. i had a boyfriend who had a serious mental problem and it made it impossibly for us to be together despite our love. thats my take on it.
yes,i know how hard it is when u can't be with someone who u love
I thought this song was about adultry, to be honest. It sounds like the women who the lyricist was with is in a relationship, be it married or whatever. "Rest your daughter while your mother cries" could be a referrence to 1) the child the woman has had in her "official" relationship and 2) the mother weeping because she knows that HER daughter is cheating on her husband. "I wanna love you but my hands are tied" perhaps a reference to the fact that he cannot stay with her because she has her "official" life.. Also, maybe his "hands are tied" because of his guilt? I admit, it doesnt QUITE fit but thats what I assumed this song was about..
I think it is awesomeness on a plate! It's so emotive and yet fairly understated, the eay the chorus explodes blows me away! I dunno about meaning, i think its about cheating on your best mate by being with his girl friend. The whole ,"gently fall form grace thing gave me that", but then I think the guy realises it can never happen becuase of the complexity of it all, wants to love this girl, but can't because of the history! sigh
I love the line "Wipe the make-up from your face Tie your hair and gently fall from grace" it's such a lovely line. I'm not too sure what this song's about. I think it may be about the whole wanting to just BE with the person you love and forget you have a life you still have to portray. I know because I can relate to it. I wish me and my boyfriend could just dissapear together, it'd be so wonderful not having to worry about anything but each other:)
Oh and I first heard it on an compliation cd I bought 'The Alternative Album' and me and my two friends were talking and then when we heard the first two lines of the song we all fell silent and then all said 'Wow'...
I always seemed to hear this song when I could totally relate it to my life. There would always be a guy that I'd want to date, but couldn't for whatever reason. I think this song is basically that, times ten (since it is love). I'm thinking the woman he loves is slightly being forced to be with her boss or someone like that. Also, with that boss-figure around, the narrator is unable to "stay here" because he's "been denied."
