Going Under Lyrics

Left home with a friend of mine
Gone two years and I don't know why
Now I'm happy all the time
I can't think and I'm feelin' fine

Girl put me in a situation
Goin' through soft core mutation

Think you heard this all before
Now you're gonna hear some more
I know a place where dreams get crushed
Hopes are smashed but that ain't much
Voluntary experimentation
Goin' through soft core mutation

I'm goin' under, I'm goin' under
I'm goin' under, I'm goin' under
I'm goin' under, goin' under
Goin' under, goin' under

Down under where the lights are low
To a place where all the mutants go
Doin' things I never did before
Inside out and comin' back for more
Little girl with the four red lips
Never knew it could be like this
You put me in a situation
Goin' through soft core mutation

Down under where the lights are low
To a place where all the mutants go
Doin' things I never did before
Inside out and comin' back for more
Little girl with the four red lips
Never knew it could be like this
You put me in a situation
Goin' through soft core mutation

I'm goin' under

A more specific kind of Sex...I interpret this as a song about oral sex, "going Down" going under...cunnilingus...gotta love it.

This song is a retooling of "All of Us."

I'm concerned that the "girls with the four red lips" who "never knew it could be like this" are suddenly getting a lot of sex, hence the red labial lips.

The first four lines (and the monotone in which they're sung) always made me think of someone who had joined a cult -- lured in by the "girl with the four red lips".

Cult, probably not. College experience, maybe more likely. Going Under, sex is not the primary essence but obviously inferred. I feel its very possible They mean society and the shockingly dangerous pitfalls therein. Being observed in , relations, clubs, school and the mutation of one's soul when strafed by the ugly normalcy of it all. I love this song and have since I heard it circa '80. The song goes to both extremes as it ventures into the world. With sexified lyrics and devastating compromises people 'feel' forced to make. Cheers all, Kelly C.
