Tricky:
She's the one makes me feel these ways
He's the one needs some praise
Can't stand to feel
Hate to feel
Gone insane
Hijack a plane
Don't push me 'cause I'm close to the edge
Trying hard not to lose my head
Can't hardly breathe
I've been and seen
She hides my Ventolin
Can't hardly breathe
Can't hardly breathe
Can't hardly breathe
Martina:
( I'm the one ), I'm the one
( Who hides his medicine ), Who hides his medicine
( Watch him stop breathe ), Watch him stop breathe
( Watch him bleed ), Watch him bleed
( I right the wrongs and take his songs ), I right the wrongs and take his song
( And we all live happy ever after ), And we all live happy ever after
( Can't hardly breathe ), Can't hardly breathe
Can't hardly breathe
Can't hardly breathe
Can't hardly breathe
And we all sing together now
Can't hardly breathe
She's the one makes me feel these ways
He's the one needs some praise
Can't stand to feel
Hate to feel
Gone insane
Hijack a plane
Don't push me 'cause I'm close to the edge
Trying hard not to lose my head
Can't hardly breathe
I've been and seen
She hides my Ventolin
Can't hardly breathe
Can't hardly breathe
Can't hardly breathe
( I'm the one ), I'm the one
( Who hides his medicine ), Who hides his medicine
( Watch him stop breathe ), Watch him stop breathe
( Watch him bleed ), Watch him bleed
( I right the wrongs and take his songs ), I right the wrongs and take his song
( And we all live happy ever after ), And we all live happy ever after
( Can't hardly breathe ), Can't hardly breathe
Can't hardly breathe
Can't hardly breathe
Can't hardly breathe
And we all sing together now
Can't hardly breathe

Ventolin is an asthma inhaler, which is the medicine she's referring to.
The song is about how some individual is making the narrator have an asthma attack, but is also the one that hid the narrator's medicine.
It's also probably a metaphor for a relationship, in which the individual caused the person to get into this "state" and has hid his/her "medicine", which is getting out of the relationship.
This song quotes the chorus from The Message by Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five. I didn't catch this the first few times I heard it, because Tricky delivers it so differently to Melle Mel.
"Don't push me 'cause I'm close to the edge Trying hard not to lose my head"
(In the original it's "I'm trying not to lose my head.) Anyway, I love the way that this song sounds like it's constantly trying to catch its breath, in line with the repetition of "can't hardly breathe" and the overall metaphor of an asthma attack for a bad relationship.
lol wtf ignore my old comment, sorry shnugen
anyway for some reason i find the fact that his medicine gets hidden really sexy
what you said makes no sense. anywise, I think it's about a destructive relationship.
