Stars All Seem To Weep Lyrics
Stayed true to the things I knew when I was younger
And food and love was all but left to hunger.
'Cause when I stray from my truth as I grow older
Too much leaves an empty hollow hunger.
I think about you on a moonlit night
And the stars all seem to weep.
When there's so much to lose
There's never any time for sleep.
Look at me doing all these things without you.
We always left a new world untrue.
Where was it we tried hard not to go to?
I think that's how I finally came through.
All the things we took for granted
The words still live on in my head
All the times I took for granted
All the words I never said.
I think about you in the moonlit night,
And the stars all seem to weep.
When there's so much love to give,
There's never any time for sleep, yeah.
So I stayed true to the things I knew when I was younger
And human life was all but left to hunger,
'Cause when I stray from the truth as I grow older
Too much leaves an empty hollow hunger.
Too much leaves an empty hollow hunger.
Living without you
Living without you.
Living without you, oh.
And food and love was all but left to hunger.
'Cause when I stray from my truth as I grow older
Too much leaves an empty hollow hunger.
And the stars all seem to weep.
When there's so much to lose
There's never any time for sleep.
We always left a new world untrue.
Where was it we tried hard not to go to?
I think that's how I finally came through.
The words still live on in my head
All the times I took for granted
All the words I never said.
And the stars all seem to weep.
When there's so much love to give,
There's never any time for sleep, yeah.
And human life was all but left to hunger,
'Cause when I stray from the truth as I grow older
Too much leaves an empty hollow hunger.
Too much leaves an empty hollow hunger.
Living without you.
Living without you, oh.

how come nobody has bothered to comment on Beth Orton?
she's brilliant! she brings to mind PJ Harvey on Prozac.
i adore this song. her most 'trip-hop'sounding one to date. it's about loss.
This song is brilliant, as are most Beth Orton's songs. Ace lyrics, ace voice. Woo Woo. Matt xx
yes, she's got a great way way in writing ...and music..and the voice is more or less unusual to hear, dont you think ? thatz why I like her.
i think she's an important artist because unlike pj harvey and liz phair (both to varying extents, certainly not absolutes) she's not afraid to be exposed for a woman. Sometimes PJ Harvey seems like she feels the need to be independent whereas Beth Orton embraces intimacy and longing as a woman...she doesn't treat it as a sign of weakness but an element of being human.
I don't see a lack of that in PJ Harvey's music at all. To Bring You My Love is practically all about longing.

I love this song it began my love affair with Beth's music.
One of my favourites, just beautiful...as for the meaning...mourning, looking back on a past love.
this song is how i feel when i grieve for my mother
