I'm thinking this is about leaving behind what's been holding you back. I'm not sure where I came across this song. It doesn't seem too many people know it. I rediscovered it on an old mix I'd made a few years ago during one of THOSE times in my life.

He carries the suitcase, which represents his life (the weight of him). It's showing his scars (worn, broken).

I think the California Wave is that fake formality that you do to be polite.

He wasn't supported or believed in, and it was obvious (lo-fi vanilla).

No one will even notice (who'll want to find me)

@xpurtwitness I agree with most of your interpretation, except, it seems more like contemplating suicide, and the sun seeing through the day is the hope of having happiness. And when he tells his friend about his suicidal tendencies, his friend says, Who'll really care?
