I think there's a pretty obvious Freudian/Phallic symbology at work here... I mean, what does a woman do with a cigarette that he would be jealous of? Put her lips all over it... suck on it... derive pleasure from it... Even the way she needs it (probably addicted) and not him. But then again, sometimes a cigarette is just a cigarette.
