Low Lyrics

Sometimes I wanna take you down
Sometimes I wanna get you low
Brush your hair back from your eyes
Take you down, let the river flow

Sometimes I go and walk the street
Behind the green sheet of glass
A million miles below their feet
A million miles, a million miles

I'll be with you girl
Like being low
Hey, hey, hey like being stone
I'll be with you girl
Like being low
Hey, hey, hey like being stone

A million poppies gonna make me sleep
With just one rose that knows your name
The fruit is rusting on the vine
The fruit is calling from the trees

Hey, don't you wanna go down
Like some junkie cosmonaut
A million miles below their feet
A million miles, a million miles

I'll be with you girl
Like being low
Hey, hey, hey like being stone
I'll be with you girl
Like being low
Hey, hey, hey like being stone

A blue blue is the sun
A brown brown is the sky
A green green are her eyes
A million miles, a million miles

Hey, don't you wanna go down?
Like some disgraced cosmonaut
A million miles below their feet
A million miles, a million miles

I'll be with you girl
Like being low
Hey, hey, hey like being stone
I'll be with you girl
Like being low
Hey, hey, hey like being stone

I have listened to this song a ton of times, and I feel like I have a pretty good grasp of it. It is about a guy who has an addiction to narcs, probably heroin, which he describes in several places. Sometimes "he walks the street behind of green sheet of glass" refers to him walking around while high and feeling completely separated from all the hustle and bustle around him. All the references to being "low" are just another adjective to describe the high, where you are so calm and relaxed and cocooned that you are operating at an existence much lower than everyone else. So low that you are "a million miles below their feet".

Anyways, a new love has come into his life. This girl doesn't do that stuff, and sometimes he wishes she did it with him, asking her "don't you wanna go down? / a million miles below their feet?" But he still is very happy with her despite her choice to stay away from the drugs. In fact, being with her is comparable to tthe high he feels.

a million poppies gonna make me sleep? uhhhhhh heroin maybe? and back in the day getting stoned originally refered to the high that heroin gives and not smoking weed. And being truly in love is a lot like being all smacked out.

@Ribbity; in addition to, here's my opinion on the next line; "Just one rose and knows your name" poppy looks like a rose (kind of, and most are red). In my opinion, this is a reference to, you only have to use heroin once to get addicted. What do you think?

The disgraced cosmonaut is a reference to Major Tom. I can't believe nobody said this. You know, David Bowie's, "Space Junkie" strung out on heaven's high.

I was just coming on here to post that same thing - thanks!

"Sometimes I want to take you down Sometimes I want to get you low Brush your hair back from your eyes Take you down let the river flow

Sometimes I go and walk the street Behind the green sheet of glass A million miles below their feet A million miles, a million miles"

This song is full of deep metaphors. The fist paragraph refers to injecting heroin. Brush your hair back from your eyes...rolling up your sleeve. Take you down let the river flow....Inject down into the vein and let the river of blood flow and take it away.

Sometimes I walk the street....walking your track marks, sometimes referred to as a road map. Behind the green sheet of glass....refers to your veins...they appear green underneath the skin.

I'll be with you girl....refers to him speedballing. Girl is known as cocaine on the streets. Sometimes I want to take you down......refers to him coming down off the anxious cocaine high. He likes being low.....he loves the heroin.

Hey don't you want to go down, like some junkie cosmonaut....It's pretty clear here what he means.

i think that the "i wanna take you down" might be referring to shooting heroin because the needle's plunger thing has to be pushed down "go down" in order to get high i also think the girl hes talking about is heroin itself,

whoa, heavy shit shuke..... very true statement(in both aspects).... Good interpretation...
