When people are in love, they stop trying to bullshit the person, they become more honest.
but the comparison between being an addict and having no control over yourself and being in love and having that same lack of control is illustrated quite nicely by this song.
I think is about both love and drugs, is kind of a joke. but he says "I came clean with it", he became honest or something like that, i guess. So that make me think is about love and not drugs. sorry for my english.
I always thought it was about having one's conscience kick in, but I definitely see the drug interpretation making sense.
