Classic love story true to his western tx roots. One of my favorites as a story, but I think there are alot of songs that are amazing not even listed on this site. I guess I should figure out how to add them, because I have about 8 REK cd's.
Dreamed I killed God, and woke up
Dreamed I killed God, and woke up
He's begging, "Please, please, please."
"No, don't..."
Dreamed I killed God and woke up
Time dries, time dries my mind
Oh, I'll survive, no one can save us
Talk to myself, talk to my soul
I want you to follow
Yes, follow...
It's only, it's only a dream, only
Dreamed I killed God and woke up
He was lying, bleeding, wishing
It's passing
It's passing
Dreamed I killed God
Dreamed I killed God
Is he dead?
And then I dreamt of him
Dreamed I killed God, and woke up
He's begging, "Please, please, please."
"No, don't..."
Dreamed I killed God and woke up
Time dries, time dries my mind
Oh, I'll survive, no one can save us
Talk to myself, talk to my soul
I want you to follow
Yes, follow...
It's only, it's only a dream, only
Dreamed I killed God and woke up
He was lying, bleeding, wishing
It's passing
It's passing
Dreamed I killed God
Dreamed I killed God
Is he dead?
And then I dreamt of him

Warren wanted a Beach Boys thing for this one, and Carl Wilson and Billy Hinsche came in, with Carl arranging the vocal parts. The other harmony vocalists (credited as the "Gentlemen Boys") were Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, Zevon's longtime backers Waddy Wachtel and Jorge Calderon, and Linda Rondstadt/Stone Poneys guitarist Kenny Edwards.

Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
ok dude, you're fucking weird. i totally agree with FamiliarNoise though, and in te Under the Table and Dreaming cover it says, "In Memory of Anne" is that his sister? i've been lead to believe it was his wife for the past 4 or 5 years. eek. no telling how many people i've told that to too.
