Pharmaecopia Lyrics

Does your god come in a capsule,
To sedate you tear the walls down,
Headless prison cannibals chew,
to consume you bring the alien,

Halcium and morphine,
5-methoxy-n, n-dimethyltryptamine,
Psilocybin, mescaline, aspirin, histomine,
Brushite, darvocet, valium, caffeine, cannabis, and LSD,
Ayahuasca, harmine give it all to me I want it

These are just a few of my favorite things X 2

Trisolam and xanax, serotonin, mdma, ibogaine, dopeamine,
Tetra-hydro-chloride, atenolol,
Amanita muscaria,
Boric oxide, arrabinitol, psilocin, and flamizine,
Cylotec and harmaline
Give it all to me I want it

Does your god come in a capsule to sedate you,
Tear the walls down, headless prison,
Cannibals chew to consume you,
Bring the alien

You can't kill me,
I'm already dead
Inside my hole,
Inside my head,
We just beg for any way to be sedated,
It's all about escaping,
Numb to me,
Numb body from this hell,

I can feel them pushing, I can feel them pulling
I can feel them holding, I can feel them moving,
I can feel them prying, I can feel them prodding,
I can feel them breathing, I can feel them digging
I can feel them stabbing, I can feel them scoping,
I can feel them living, I can feel it,
Consume, take in, plunging, plumbing,
Instruments prying, aliens inside me,
Tooling the machine,
Intoxicating,
Feel it unfolding, riddles in me

It's all about escaping, we just beg for any way to get away
Who do you bow down to, does your god come in a capsule or on a plate
They're trying to sedate you, swallow self and bring on the alien
You tried to kill me, I'm already dead to this world
I'm already dead to this world

this song was written by sPaG, and its about all the drugs he has done, be is by far the biggest drug abuser of the band. yet him and jeoy from slipknot are still my favorite drummers.

here a good opinion i found on this song from another site:

Another spelling of the title is pharmacopoeia (more likely to find this spelling in the dictionary) and it means "A collection or stock of drugs." I think in this song Kud basically names every hallucinogenic drug in existance! He then goes on to describe what I believe is a trip: "I can feel them living..." and "Instruments prying, aliens inside me" (It is not uncommom for hallucinogen users to have religious or extraterrestrial experiences while under influence)

If critics wanna pin down Mudvayne on their "negative" lyrics it would probably be this song. It's hard to deny Kud isn't promoting drug use when he says "These are just a few of my favourite things" but it should be noted that most if not all the drugs he mentions are hallucinogens. That in itself could mean that he's trying to see the world in a different way and escape the reality of the bad things happening to him and others. I personally don't think Mudvayne is promoting drug use because the way Kud names them. The drugs aren't identified by their street name but rather in a scientific fashion. After all, would you by "Tetra-hydro-chloride" off a drug dealer? Sounds like the stuff you add to your swimming pool to me.

To me the author of this song wrote it in an amazing view point. I believe the song is the authors second "dream state" conscienciousness telling it's waking conscience "these are a few of my favorite things" because I have all kinds of answers inside me that you need to know . And in order to reach them you need to "kill" your original self and "bring on the alien" which would be your new self. The "drugs" listed in the songs are just ways to bring on the death/life rebirth which Mudvayne revolves around.

I've come to this conclusion because I realized that when I took mushrooms (Psilocybin) the first time as soon as I started trypping I thought I had died. In essence I actually had died because from that day on I was never the same again hence I had killed my old being and brought on a newer "alien" form of myself I didn't even know existed.

To all that wrote "it's about drugs" this song is NOT about "drugs" and "drugs" only. Yes they may mention them but Mudvayne is way to deep of a band to write something of that nature. Listen to "Monolith" "Mutatis Mutandis" and "Recombinant Resurgence" instead of skipping over them. Open your mind for fucks sake. You might learn something.

Its simple, that the song is asking if the god they believe in comes in a capsule or a plate, referencing the drug useage of religions since time began. From here, it just lists all the drugs that the government wants to ban, due to the psychedelic properties, like DMT. This song is basically about the large collection of drugs the user has in order to escape. Its all about escaping to him, to be dead on the outside, but in his mind, in his own conscious, to be entirely alive and experiencing all the chemicals in his system. To all the religious people, Escapism is a method of religious experience. Indians and other religions have been taking drugs since the stone age, and its only when Christianity, among other religions on the same lines, attempted to look better than others due to the lack of drug useage, is when it becomes a candid idea. Escapism is a reality, To be alive is to be dead on the inside. The drugs described in this song all have some kind of element that livens up the experience. Like Maynard James Keenan said once. "The trick is to take the drugs once, then spend the next 10 years of your life trying to get back to that high without the drug."

I like this song. It has a good melody. I think it's about addiction.

10 minutes to write Nothin to Gein! Impressive.

I think that's a bit of an exaggeration...True, he did write them both on their last day in the studio, but I think he had more like a 30-60 minute period to do it. Still, that is pretty amazing....2 of the best songs on L.D.50 in such a short time.

Nah this wasn't writen by Kud apperently it was writen by the drummer sPaG, i think or Ryknow.. i think it was sPaG.. but it makes more sense if it was sPaG... because the first 2 lines

"Does your god come in a capsule, To sedate you tear the walls down,"

To me is talking about the Hermetic order of the goldern dawn.. which sPaG is a huge part of.. if u ever look at his arm ull see a tattoo of a blue triangle with a yellow sun and a big red cross... that the symbol of the goldern dawn. Also looks at the idea of Shamanism which is the use of the archaic techniques of ecstasy that were developed independent of any religious philosophy.

This song is about dependencies on drugs in our culture... from heroin for junkies to anti-depressents for the wealthy or middle class. I think it puts them all in the same sort of category. that all these drugs are simply to remove your own personal being and change you into someone else. Like anti-depressants do

This song is about all the drugs that Mudvayne does and why they do it and they say in the song how it doesnt matter that they are sedated because they are all ready dead to the world
