Dig Lyrics

Dig bury me underneath
Everything that I am rearranging
Dig bury me underneath
Everything that I was slowly changing

I would love to beat the face,
Of any mother fucker that's thinkin' they can change me,
White knuckles grip pushing through for the gold,
If you're wantin' a piece of me I broke the mother fuckin' mold,
I'm drowning in your wake
Shit rubbed in my face
Teething on concrete
Gums bleeding

Dig bury me underneath
Everything that I am rearranging
Dig bury me underneath
Everything that I was slowly changing

I struggle in violated space,
Sell out motherfuckers in the biz that try to fuck me,
Hang from their T's rated P.G. insight,
I ain't sellin' my soul when there's nothing to buy
I'm livid in my space
Pissing in my face
Fuck you while you try
To fuck me

Dig bury me underneath
Everything that I am rearranging
Dig bury me underneath
Everything that I was you ain't fuckin' changing me

Let me help you tie the rope around your neck,
Let me help to talk you the wrong way off the ledge,
Let me help you hold the glock against your head
Let me help you tie the rope around your neck,
Let me help to talk you the wrong way off the ledge,
Let me help you hold the glock up to your head,
Let me help to chain the weights onto your legs
Get on the plank fuck

Dig bury me underneath
Everything that I am rearranging
Dig bury me underneath
Everything that I was slowly changing
Wish you were committing
Suicide suckin' on a mother fuckin' tailpipe
Dead man dangling from a tight rope
Limbless in the middle of a channel bob away

badass song. Also means there is someone who hates life and wants to die and they are bringing another person down with them. So this person actually wants them to die. Hence the assisted suicide part.

If you had read that post with some care you would have noticed that I did not compare Mudvayne to Limp Bizkit. I said that the second verse is about the music industry tring to mold Mudvayne into a band like Limp Bizkit, trying to make them a commerical band to rake in the cash. I did not and would not compare Mudvayne to Limp Bizkit at all, it's just unthinkable!

I personally think it's a big fuck you to the music industry. Who try to change people and strip them of their true potential.

  • It's just a shame that Mudvayne tilted into the mainstream.
My Interpretation

My perception of this song is heavily influenced by events that have happened to me, but this is what I have to say: I think it's about how sometimes, you just want to be who you are, but people view that as "inappropriate" or "unacceptable" and then they try to change you; not realizing that it's impossible for a person's true self to change without them wanting it to. Being a goth, I've faced a lot of that at school. But that second verse is definately about the media, I agree with yall on that one. That whole suicide(or rather assisted suicide) part in the middle is really cool, but I still cant figure out what it has to do with the rest of the song.

i think ur stuggles mirror the song perfectly, cause when i hear it i hear i would rather b my weird and misunderstood self then change my self even the slightest bit for anyone. i cn also kinda relate but its weird cause i guess i get stereotyped b.c im a girl who likes baggy clothes and metal blaring out of my ipod, plus i go to some small preppy school. kids may think im weird but personally when ever i think about it i just laugh.

but i think the whole suicide part is foreshadowing what will happen...

Well, I'm not so sure bout all the profound qualities of the lyrics. I just know that this is the best nu-metal (hate that) song I've heard in a while. Guaranteed to get your blood boiling on a shitty day and to piss off those fuckin' neighbours.

I hate the term 'nu-metal', especially since Mudvayne was around before that term was ever created. Anyway, I'm a big fan of this band. They stay true to themselves, and that's admirable in these dark days of mostly manufactured mainstream music.

Alright you guys are reading way too far into the "assisted suicide" part. I love Mudvayne, but all their really saying is they want this person to go the fuck away and die while their at it!

Does anyone else know what he means by "monolithic" effort, being refered to next to 2001?

Yeah.... they were influenced alot by Kubrick works..eg: 2001: A Space Oddesey... and thus the Monolith in the film...

this song during this time was basically saying we're mudvayne we will never sell out and let the business change who we are, which i find ironicly funny that they sold out a few years later and they still to this day sing that song

Of course, die-hard Mudvayne fans will insist that they didn't "sell out" but rather simply changed their sound. Uh-huh. That must be why I started hearing a few Mudvayne songs on the radio.

Not that I condemn anyone for trying to cash in on the candy-ass musical tastes of the average idiot. But like you, I find it ironically funny.

I don't think they sold out at all. They sure tried like hell, but isn't one of the prerequisites to selling out, to sell something? I know literally zero people that listen to them anymore. Granted, It's not like I know millions of people or anything, but I used to know quite a few that did listen to them. So, I think I would call them "shit-outs".
