why aren't people commenting on this song? in my opinion it's one of TC's best. the first time i heard it i thought it was about a hooker and i still think that, but no one else seems to agree with me.

This song is indeed about a prostitute and how ugly it is to be one.
And to go more in depth... it's actually about Bill's old encounter with an old friend who had become a prostitue. He would visit the same location every day to see if she was still there and of course she was. He hid himself though, until one day (read verse). The hooker was never there anymore after Bill had talked with her.
I read this in a magazine.
Also, anyone know where I can get the music video for this? I want to see it again... all I can remember is that they were in a forest or something playing the song.

In my conclusion, Bill Priddle and Greig Nori have different singing and songwriting styles. Bill is more on slow sentimental indie rock just like DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE or COLDPLAY coz Bill reminds me of BEN GIBBARD of Deth Cab while Greig's style is more PUNK POP just like SUM 41 and GOB, Greig's voice reminds me of Deryck Whibley of Sum 41

I always thought this song was about a guy at a party...and seeing a really radiant girl across the room that was the biggest thing at the party, and then wanting to go up and talk to her. the chorus could be about all the people she's dressed up to impress over the time, but i dont know much.

i agree with bob dylan, i always thought the song was about a girl in bar, i guess that means more to me than a soing about a prostitute but is all good, i love this song and the sadness and melancholy of his voice
