Sounds like the guy is mentally struggling with whether or not to stay friends with somebody.

"I make no claim on your design" Obviously the friend has some sort of agenda and the singer knows it, but can't make out what it is exactly.

"The never ending signals" sounds like the friend switches back and forth between honourable and dishonourable behaviour.

Obviously the "friend" can't be trusted and the friendship needs to end.
