Even Grable Lyrics

This time, who knows
You can do better than me
You'll see, it shows
Is that you tried to leave

I wanna go somewhere
I've never been anywhere
Why do you yell at me?
You're always yelling

I've finally found
That I tried to look down
What I'd live for
That far astray, it's like today
What's there to say?
Your reason's sound
And there's noone around
That I'd live for
You're gone away
Not meant to stay away

I feel you try
There's enough light in the way
It takes more time
Than you allowed me to say
I feel so sorry
So friendly it hurts
Need to speak when you're yelling and yelling

WOAH! Can't belive no one has commented on this! It's by far one of TC's best, possibly even THE best song. Anyway i think its about a failing relationship, and when they try to give it another shot they just mess it up (why do you yell at me, you're always yelling), and from what i can think of Even Grable (i think) must mean something like for what its worth, cause if you have that in mind and read the chorus it makes sence.

Agreed. Before there was, American Psycho, Brand New Low, or, Red, there was, Even Grable. =) Greig's falsetto is refreshing here considering they were all so young when, self=title, was released in '95.

I also interpret this song other than a means of relationship (between a male & female), but also as a means of friendship that has dissolved, or, when you've lost (could be death or moved away) someone that has a great influence in your (daily) life, and you find yourself empty and unsure how to move on; my reference for this interpretation is the chorus: "What's there to say, Your reason's sound, That I'd live for, You're gone away, Not meant to stay, away"

The moving away thing makes sence - "I feel so sorry, So friendly it hurts" probably means Greig has some regrets about the past and misses them, but "Need to speak when you're yelling and yelling" means that he'll never forget them, and what they've been though.

Something else i've thought of, if you get the meaning (more like an emotion, actually) of each verse/chorus it tells a little story. At first (to me) it's anger, sadness, clarity then loneliness/remorse.
