Christ Is On The Lawn Lyrics

Lonely more the night
Candle lost its light
Lines begin to show

There's another kind
Listen here it's time
Lying just below.

Shouldn't you believe
Everything you see
'Least as much as all the things you know
All the things you know

All the pews are gone
Dealer's wife has left today
Where she went, she wouldn't say
And Christ is on the lawn

Move your mouth the same
Just repeat the name
As if it's wrong to you

That's an odd request
Try to do what's best
When you're told it's true

Wouldn't you believe
Someone's bound to see
Mind the shade and leave the rest alone
Leave the rest alone

i think it's about someone whos gone through something bad and he gave up his religion. 'christ is on the lawn' could mean that it's now like out of his life and on the lawn getting taken away.

just my interpretation.

" think it's about someone whos gone through something bad and he gave up his religion." I agree.

"Dealer's wife has left today Where she went, she wouldn't say"

The leaving could possibly have been death, and that is reason for giving up religion. Also, the lyrics say, "Lonely more the night Candle lost its light"

They are lonely because the one they love has left, and lost their light because they've burnt out(died).

They also might be confused. Example, "Shouldn't you believe Everything you see 'Least as much as all the things you know"

They aren't sure what to believe anymore. And as Ray Jay said, they've jsut thrown their religion out on the lawn, like trash.
