Time Bomb Lyrics
Well, I
I am a time bomb
And I
I lay forgotten at the bottom of your heart
I'm fine
Ticking away the hours
Till I blow your world apart
I
I am a poison
And I
I am still coursing through your bloodstream
Like a ghost
Like wine
Gathering vintage
Till the day I hurt the most
I
I am a landmine
And I
I lay under soil
Burned out by battles you thought you'd won
I've got time
To wait for the footsteps
Of a memory that's on the run
Yeah, yeah, yeah...
Well, I
I am a tar pit
And I
I swell like a living thing
All at the slightest touch
A black grime
Swallowing everything
In a cold and timeless clutch
I
I am a trip wire
And I
I'm stretching across the road you're barreling down tonight
The thinnest twine
Waiting to be released
Right beyond your sight
I
I am a fault line
And I
I'm pulling apart the ground
That lay beneath your newest seed
So fine
I'm moving in inches now
Crawling, cutting, cleaving
Like a knife
Well, I
I am a time bomb
And I
I only live in that one moment in which you die
It's not right
It's not what I wanted, then
But you know and I know
There's no going back
I
I am a lost soul
And I
I send out a sickened light
For anyone to see
A cry for help
Yeah
A warning to stay away
A burning, a blinding
A bleaching
A death-mask white
Yeah...
I am a time bomb
And I
I lay forgotten at the bottom of your heart
I'm fine
Ticking away the hours
Till I blow your world apart
I am a poison
And I
I am still coursing through your bloodstream

This song seems like it's about the jealousy, pride, and depression left after a breakup. The singer knows whoever he's singing to will remember him when things get bad. then he gets jealous of her "newest seed". he realizes his hostility and that "there's no going back" and it's not worth it. then depression sets in "A cry for help, yeah, a warning to stay away A burning, a blinding, a bleaching deathmask white, yeah"
This song is fucking amazing. It indeed seems to be about feelings after breakup.
Beautifully written, but the best thing about it is how music reflects those feelings. His tone slowly gets more agressive, the 'evilish' tone at the fault line verse rises to the extreme. When he realizes that there's 'no going back' you hear him calm again accompanied by the out-of-tune 'weeping', to reflect the state of hopelessness and sadness.
A perfect song for me.
Time Bomb is what you make it.
wow.
best lyrics ever.
Awesome song. I'd be the trip wire.
This is why I miss the Dismemberment Plan so much.
this is my theme song. it's like my lot in life is destroying everything I love without even trying to. saying you're a time bomb is so appropriate because it's saying things may be going fine for a while, but there's a timer waiting to go off no matter what you do.
"It's not what I wanted then but you know and I know there's no going back,"
I agree. best lyrics ever, but it's the music that makes this song, I think...so desperate and ravaging.
I am high cholesterol.
